Autism Study Supports 'Once You've Met One Autistic Person, You've Met One Autistic Person.'

Have you heard this before? That once you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person? It's the idea that because each person on the spectrum is so distinctly different, it's hard to place them as a general, "once you've met x type of person, you've met them all." I wanted to go over a 2015 study on the autistic brain that shows that this saying is supported by the way our brains function.

This subject has been on my mind lately and I’ve felt frustrated because I just couldn’t wrap my mind around this. Your video clarified this subject for me and I now don’t feel frustrated! Thank you ❤️

Here’s what I’m taking away from this:
While for NTs the natural inclination toward conformity, as well as the instincts for how to achieve it, are to an extent neurologically predetermined; for us Aspergians it must be acquired through learning, focused attention and effort.

Just like else in the world.

And that’s *only if* we even want to conform! For me, it’s a thing I decide upon minute by minute, situation dependent. And yes, more often than not I don’t.

Interesting. This is a fascinating subject. I would like to see a scan of my brain 🧠

I always found the 'lack of proper pruning' theory of autism to be very interesting.

Wait... so can high-functioning autism be diagnosed with a brain scan then?
Or does this only work if the understanding of the condition (or lack thereof) is already a given?

Wouldn't it be a little easier to just get a brain scan if someone thinks they're on the spectrum? Or at least give hints? Sounds like it would help out more people

Interesting! This could also rule out an autism gene. 😁
