When Sting did turn heel in 1999 it was a complete flop. Fans continued to pop for him as if he were a babyface and the whole turn was quietly dropped after about 6 weeks.

Could have used Savage. He was wwf as much as hogan.

Only thing I would have liked to have seen played out differently when Hogan came out for his heel turn would be having Sting take the beat down instead of Savage. It would have made more sense since Sting was the face of WCW. Maybe the rationale was lingering heat with Hogan and Savage, and the two of them had drawn big money before. In the end it doesn't really matter since the NWO went over huge and created a sea change in the wrestling business.

I believe Kevin Sullivan. I think Nash was the one who said it would be Sting. Both Nash & Hall were known for stirring shit up in the dressing room. This was a prime example.

Also, charismatically speaking, Sting A) I don't think would've meshed well with hall and Hall and Nash honestly looked great together AND vibeed together B)Hall and Nash would've totally overshadowed Sting. I started watching WcW cuz I heard Hogan turned bad, I assume it was the same for a lot of WWF fans that started watching WcW around this time. If its Sting, you don't get that WWF rub and you don't enhance the Invasion storyline. I think the only suitable replacements would've been Shawn, Bret, or Macho, BUT Hogan was the perfect choice for the role

Sting was the ultimate babyface in wcw, it would never of worked, he was too Popular, Hogan was forced to make the change cause Hogan's popularity was massively dying

Kevin is right, the guy eric wanted was actually a (fa) at the time, Brett. They wanted to originally have what (the "outsiders) brought w/sneak attacks until brett said, well they're got more heat than any1.

Wcw had corney dudes. Much like wwf in the 80s early 90s. But when the attitude era hit. Wcw seemed so lame to me. Even the promos and the fans seemed so lame to me. I remember watching wcw nitro and perry Saturn was in the ring cutting a promo and he was talking to someone I forget who. But he was like " blah blah blah and I'm gonna beat u up". And all the fans were like As if Saturn just said something hella rude. Lol. That promo and threat was lame as hell but the fans were in shock for some reason.

Sting was completely wasted once the NWO debuted. He should have been more involved in the storyline. Hiding in the rafters was lame, especially for 2 years straight.

Sorry but I disagree with Sullivan.
Sting being the third member in the nWo would made sense because Sting was very upset at WCW for accusing him to be the third member.
I think Sting would join Hall & Nash because of his heated bitterness towards WCW.

I always thought they should’ve made the third man in that match Sean Waltman. Then have Hogan come down at the end and turn on the WCW guys and they could’ve just started the NWO off with four members.
