Benoit should've called Jerocho... If he really needed a Friend to talk to Jericho seems like he'd be that guy he could've called and talked to about anything.

I think the tragic loss of Eddie Guerrero was the catalyst that really led to the mental breakdown of Chris. Eddie was not only a close friend but also an integral part of Chris' life, and his sudden death left a profound impact on Chris. This, coupled with Chris' history of severe concussions, steroid use, and grueling schedules with little time for rest or grieving, likely contributed to his rapid mental deterioration. It is clear that the combination of these factors had a devastating effect on Chris' mental health, ultimately leading to the tragic events that unfolded.

Benoit and Kurt were the pinnacle of technical wrestling in 00's. Its boring when I was a kid but now, it's remarkable. Shows how actual wrestling style plays with gimmick wrestling style.

We know why. Just look up CTE victims and CTE symptoms. A lot of football players wives have said their husbands have threatened to murder them and look like they were going to do it then shortly after they can’t even remember it. Also the heat map on the Benoit home showed that he was alive for hours after his wife and son were murdered. So it was almost certainly a CTE induced rage moment that he probably snapped out of shortly after and was left with the realisation that his wife and kid had been murdered by his hand. Something he probably didn’t even remember doing. Then he did what I think most of us would have done and killed himself. You don’t get points for saying this but the man and his family were all victims of a profession knowingly causing this disease and covering it up.

I'm glad, Chris is still talking about his friend.

One thing I've always questioned is if he was so mentally unstable he actually thought he was "saving" them from something worse than being strangled to death. He wrote numerous assumptions in his diary that he thought people were following him, and coming to get him and his family. He even started taking different routes to the gym and on the way home in the weeks leading up to his death.

It’s tough, you can see Chris still loyal and defending his friend this entire clip here.

Can’t imagine how hard it is for him to talk about about, just imagine going to sleep and waking up to hear your best friend did this

I grew up a MASSIVE Chris Benoit fan & I put him in my top 5 or top 10 favorite wrestlers growing up. Tbh, I still think that way to this day. I'm not honoring his actions by all means. But I still believe to this day that Chris Jericho said it best that Eddie Guerrero's death was the last straw for Chris Benoit. If Eddie was still alive in '07, there's just almost no way the Benoit incident would've happened. That's just facts right there. More importantly, I believe in my heart that Chris Benoit truly LOVED his family & wouldn't have done anything to intentionally harm them if he had a normal functioning brain.

As a fan I hurt because Benoit was so damn good in the ring .. it breaks your heart as a fan that he will be remembered for “That day” forever now instead of his great work in the ring !

It’s a shame how things turned out, it’s been 15 years since it happened. Most have moved on. I’ll always remember Benoit for his wrestling, nothing more.

As we learn more and more about CTE I believe the incident was most likely a blackout moment where he had no idea what he did. And hearing he took his life hours after, I believe that happened when he came back to reality and seen what happened and couldn't believe he did it and couldn't live with it. It's a theory, it's a tragedy. But I feel in my heart that's what happened. The horrible part about it is we will never know the actual truth. Sad for both families and their friends cuz they will never get the closure they deserve.

I have lost many people too. Jericho's approach on how to move on is definitely the healthy approach, because it's ok to be angry at them and the anger needs to come out, otherwise it will just stick with you forever. Also, just cherish the love they have given you and nothing else.

I always thought the ending of wrestlemania 20 was an image of Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit carrying the wrestling business on their backs. Both are gone and It's a shame that moment has been erased because of what Benoit did.

Chris Jericho was Chris Benoit’s best friend n very close on the road together for many years until after Eddie Guerrero died Jericho says while him n Benoit was at Eddie’s funeral Chris Benoit cried so much that when he hugged Chris Jericho his tears literally soaked through sleeve of his suit jacket n shortly after the funeral Chris Benoit really became distant from half the ppl he knew including Chris Jericho which is mentioned in dark side of the ring. CB didn’t really want to see ppl who he knew anymore n more of the dark thoughts went through Chris Benoit head many of us never foreseeing the events that would occur almost two years later. Even tho Jericho still talks about Benoit in a positive light for the most part even he says what Chris Benoit did is unforgivable n for that he should never be inducted into the WWE hall of fame.

I remember seeing this on the news years ago and the memorial the wrestling world did for him. It was very tragic and Eddie Guerrero‘s passing made me sad.

My father suffered a serious brain injury when he was 12. Before that he was a bright, friendly, intelligent young man with bags of potential. After the accident he was reclusive, struggled in school and unable to control his emotions. When I was growing up, I always knew him to have an explosive, violent temper but I didn't know his history. He was not a bad person, he was just damaged and struggling; and being a man, he was too proud to ask for help with his demons. Chris was brain damaged, I have no doubt about that, what he did was abhorrent and maybe unforgivable but the person that did it wasn't the real Benoit, it was the damaged and broken Benoit.

So many years and still this tragedy baffles me.
There are so many unanswered questions.
Even the authorities ruled it inconclusive.
The brain damage theory seems most credible, but it's still only a theory.

CTE causes high suicidality, erratic emotional states, and violent outbursts.

With Chris taking those massive headbutt bumps, his frontal lobe (personality, cognitive area of the brain) must've been the equivalent of an alcoholic's liver. Coupled with the high testosterone from the roids... Dude...
