The source is the Gospel Topics Essays on the church’s official website. Look at the footnotes and read the sources that even the church uses. I also recommend reading Helen’s diary. It’s heartbreaking 💔.

All of the TBMs in the comments crying about her sharing false information…. None of the information she shared was false. The rest of what you’re disagreeing with is her *opinion*. So…

Until you do REAL research. Don't share your limited thoughts.

Lol, I've dealt with tons of nepotism in my life, and none of it involved mormons. It's just as common with other people, companies, and religions. People are imperfect, and to think there's a group of people out there who don't make mistakes is completely asinine.

My parents converted to the latter day saints before I was born, and I grew up in the church, what I remember most is every one was super nice, I never actually met a person with multiple wives, and I received so much hate and discrimination as a young child to the point where my friends parents would give me hate booklets about Mormons worshipping the devil, and I should come to their church or they wouldn't let their child hang out with me. It was rough. I don't know what happened 200 years ago, but I think alot of teenagers got married then, but I was never traded against my will to an older man...🤣 so if that's what they USED to do, we must have progressed, much like EVERY religion and their horrible pasts. The current Mormon church branch that I attended sometimes, is multicultural and has narcotics anonymous meetings, and several married same sex couples.

"Plural marriage" sounds so much softer than plain old adultery, doesn't it? Also, much easier to sell to those who consider themselves to be pious, sanctimonious, devout, etc. . . . but are also very naive, gullible, and delusional.

"now for the rest of the story", as Paul Harvey used to say. I think reading for yourself would be a better Justice to the Mormon church. I'm so glad that we live in a country that we can speak our minds

It's not being a good person it's excepting Jesus and having a relationship with him. He turns you into a good person. We are nothing without Him.

That was a very long time ago. The Mormon church doesn't allow that any more. Just like other religions have changed as time has gone by. The Mormon church is quite calming now days.

Aunt of wife of father-in-law of my forth Great Grandfather, Desdemona fuller was Joseph Smith 3rd wife. She lived with him and his first wife she told Joseph she had a dream that the first wife poisoned her. Joseph said she just might. Desdemona moved out and away shortly after.

Some who left the TRUE CHURCH, is a result of rebell & lack of knowledge. Refused to repent, from personal sins, now up w/endless excuses, lies.

Also from a historical perspective, not trying to say anything for or against the church, y'all got to understand that marrying at such a young age was extremely common at the time. Heck, most ancient and medieval Christian civilizations practice marrying girls as young as 12 or 13. Essentially if they can have kids they should get married was the idea. The age of the man they married depended on the culture. The Spartan men for example we're required to be 33 years in the service of the military at least before Marriage. The idea that it's bad for girls to get married at such a young age didn't come around until after world war I when a lack of resources indirectly caused a chain of cultural reactions.

And of course you can prove all this, right??? You can say anything on social media but what really counts is that you can prove it's true.

Salvation is found in Jesus, by grace through faith. Not of works. And certainly not by sacrificing your children.

Where did you get this info. You don't get to say things that defame a whole religion or family without any proof.
Real "moral standards" !

Sadly nepotism happens all the time in politics.

Actually, what happened later on was that Helen Mar Kimball defended Joseph Smith and plural marriage more than any other female author. Marinda Johnson also said that she never saw anything wrong with Joseph Smith when he and Emma stayed at her father John Johnson's home.
