Another wonderful tutorial Brian. (I honestly can't believe you are giving all of this information away for free. Thank you so much)
What helped me a lot was learning to work through and strengthen my pelvic floor muscles and to incorporate my back muscles, as though I am bringing the front of my rib cage to the center of my back... in absolutely that I do. (Standing, sitting, walking... constantly connecting to my spine)
That small visual actually helped strengthen my lower back muscles and my shoulders and gave me more strength in my core muscles overall.
Strength training helps so much as long as the exercises are being performed with care. (I keep my full focus on my entire back... connecting constantly to my spine) I can feel my lower abdominal muscles engaged by engaging the muscles through my back.
The magic of Protein... protein keeps me feeling full...SO much longer.
I had a very carb heavy diet and was constantly craving garbage...now it's Good sources of protein (lean meats and eggs (I don't eat red meat)) with fruits and vegetables.
My carbs are my fruits.
My vegetables are my sources of fiber but for me it's the protein that helps to keep me full with no cravings for sugary junky treats.
I do eat Protein chips (they range from 14-20 grams of protein...I think it's 3 carbs per serving?) and I will crush them and put them in sandwiches with a couple of slices of turkey breast hummus spinach and cucumber on a 60 calorie Syrian bread (or protein bread which 3? grams of protein and 70 cal per slice: Dave's Killer Bread is amazing) for lunch and then dinner is generally protein with vegetables and zero carbs.
(Other option is a water based meal...soup...or vegetable broth with mushrooms and spinach... depending on how the day has been)
Greek yogurt is absolutely fantastic. (They have sugar free flavorings available now like toffee and chocolate that will make Greek yogurt taste like an actual chocolate pudding or a toffee treat.)
Protein heavy at night with no carbs.
Carb heavier with good sources of protein in the morning and into the afternoon.

I stay water hydrated.

Key points: (total game changer for me)
I don't deprive myself of anything.
Sweet treats if I going to eat them, happen before 4:00 in the afternoon.
I plan for it and make a point of it and I don't sit idle after I eat dinner.
I find a 20-30 minute workout of Brain's and/or walk the dog if the weather is reasonable to walk for 30 minutes. (It's been ridiculously hot here)

If you have read through this: God Bless. Wishing you all the best in your fitness journey.

I love these sessions Brian, they're pretty informative. I have a concern though regarding using coconut oil for cooking. It has a very high content of saturated fat, your thoughts?
