Can Ukraine's long-range attacks daunt Russia? | DW News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has boasted of what could be a game-changer: a long-range weapon made in Ukraine, which Zelenskyy claims has hit a target 700 kilometers away. While the President rarely comments on Ukrainian attacks inside Russia, he appeared to allude to a devastating strike earlier this week. The attack damaged several military transport planes in the western region of Pskov -- roughly 700 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border. A weapon with that range could potentially put Moscow within striking distance, raising the stakes as Kyiv tries to bring the war home to Russians.

The Kremlin says Ukraine has launched the biggest wave of drone attacks on Russian territory since the start of the war. Strikes on military assets inside Russia support Ukraine's ground counteroffensive by cutting off supply lines for Russian troops. The targeting of Moscow’s glittering high-rises bears a more symbolic importance.

It's going to be a slog. Ukraine has always had good engineers, but they don't have much production capacity. It would be nice to split the Russian line this year

Let’s never forget who started the war in the first place ❤️🇺🇦❤️

Ukraine is fighting smart! Putin thought the airfield would be out of range. He also thought the air defence system would help protect the airfield.
Also Ukraine has developed underwater sea drones. Very smart!!

Yes Ukraine will continue, yes it does affect Russia, yes they will develop their own and yes I would expect they will launch on tactical targets not necessarily civilian. They must, for their survival. Who said Russia ought to be able to lob stuff at everyone else with impunity anyway? Seems like a silly unrealistic concept.

Putin should stay away from windows and watch what he eats. It is recommended that he doesn't fly by Plane as well. Karma can be nasty and relentless. They are coming for him as we speak.

Americans support Ukraine and wish them success in their counterattack, especially when it hits them in Russia.

Ukraine’s long range weapon system forced Russian to allocate resources in vast area which thinner Russian anti-air capability. Not to say the threat to their logistics. Good move.

Did the V1 or V2 bring victory? No. Obviously drones won't. Just end this war already

I would hope their are civilian American companies that are teaming with Ukrainian companies privately to produce long range missiles especially since they are now dominant in the space industry.

They did not pointed it out but Ukraine was the "soviet silicon valley" and S.A.Lebedev the father of soviet computer engineering, for instance MESM (Ukrainian: MEOM, Мала Електронна Обчислювальна Машина;) was the first universally programmable electronic computer in the Soviet Union (1951). And if the red army and Moscow would not have taken control and taken terrible decisions, who knows what could have been with such brilliant pioneers....
