WestJet Cargo's fleet will be slashed in half as the newly launched freight division struggles to compete in the Canadian market. Meanwhile, The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a new Airworthiness Directive in response to a March incident involving a Boeing 787. Lastly, Juneyao Airlines has announced it'll begin serving direct flights to Melbourne Airport in Australia from December 19, 2024, marking its first flights to the country.

The 787 seat issue sounds a lot like the RAF Voyager (Reg ZZ333) flight to Camp Bastion, where the captain pushed his seat into his camera, which pushed into the sidestick, and caused a pitch-down with a max 16, 000ft/min V/S.

Clickbait: a new airline is launching flights to Australia. It’s not an Australian airline

The big cargo player in Canada is Cargo Jet and they are the ones that are hard to compete with in the cargo business.

You finally talked about Latam!
How about also talking often more on Sky airlines and JetSmart more often in your content? Their robust orders of Airbus narrow bodies, new routes, etc.
Great channel. Cheers!

In 2017, Boeing sent a bulletin to airlines on how to replace loose and worn caps. This makes this AD the fault of the airlines who have not inplemented the replacement into maintainence procedures. Common sense says that if a mechanic sees a loose cap and airlines have access to info on how to replace it, then airlines should replace it, but the airlines involved in the 6 incidents clearly have not followed that. An Airworthiness Directive is not an admission of guilt by Boeing

I had no idea that flight deck seats could cause A problem if so why are such pivotal controls so near to them??

WestJet is really expensive now for the average Canadian 🇨🇦. They need to drop the prices a bit more to get people into seats, plus Porter is gaining popularity and market share .

Airworthiness directives are being issued all the time. It is called aviation safety. There have been eight on the A380 this year and 11 on A330s. There have been three on A320s this month alone. But for DJ, only those issued on Boeings are ever "problems".

DJ, when did you get the info on the WJ cargo cutback?

Just a small suggestion here. When you refer to country-specifiic bodies, it'd be helpful to quickly identify them the first time you mention them in a post. Instead of starting off "The FAA has...", just put in "The U.S. FAA has ..." or something similar. Or say all the words as you do in the synopsis above. After that, the acronym can be used with clarity. Takes only a second or two, and makes it clear. Not everybody knows all the terms. This is intended to be helpful, not a criticism, your posts are really good.

Westjet 737 cargo, containerised on main deck? 737’s used to be just loose cargo in rear hold. Back in the 80s-90s. Laurie. NZ.

Juneyao Airlines, a Shanghai, China-headquartered airline, is a Star Alliance Connecting Partner.

Not yet decided if they are pushing for a full membership status in the airline alliance of 40 member carriers.

I always think WestJet is Australian, and it comes as a surprise that is from someplace else.

Last time I checked the only interface between the cockpit seats and flight controls is the pilot.
