Why Flying Ryanair Is Worth It🤩

Here’s why I choose to fly @ryanair🫣

People love to hate on Ryanair but honestly how can you complain about a €10 or €20 ticket? Even if they’re more expensive, let’s say €100, odds are their competitors will be at least 2 to 3 times more. There’s no way I am paying that much more for a free bottle of water and the ability to say I don’t fly Ryanair😂🤦‍♂️ In most cases, I can add an extra legroom seat, a meal, airport priority, and still pay less than I would to fly their full-service competitors.

As someone who grew up in a secondary city, I am also really grateful for Ryanair because they opened up a ton of routes that wouldn’t have been operated by any other airlines. They, more than any other European airline, contribute to connecting this part of the world🇪🇺

If you are one of those people who refuses to fly Ryanair (but not just because of pride), I’d love to hear why in the comments🤓

Nonstop Dan, the only travel Youtuber that will fly Ryanair before, in between, and after first-class flights. Respect.

I fly them occasionally and the experience has improved since they ceased harassing customers in-flight with scratch cards and vodka bags etc. The biggest downside is the absence of a jetway in wet weather, combined with their habit of “boarding” passengers into stairwells or outdoor holding pens just to clear the gate.

When a Ryanair flight goes to plan, all is good.

But when it goes wrong, it goes spectacularly wrong. That's what has given them a bad image.

They’re fine until something goes wrong and then they’re impossible to get hold of. Notably when they sent my luggage to Spain instead of Belgium 🙈

Consider them as buses, you don’t expect a meal on a bus.

I think it boils down to the fact that people don’t like the feeling of being nickel and dimed, even if the overall cost is less.

The beauty of LCC like Ryanair is it allows people to visit different parts of Europe for less. You can literally book a flight a few hours prior in London and then voila you are in Vilnius the next morning.

Ryanair is a blessing for someone like me, a student with a low budget. Weekend in spain? Sure. Holiday on Malta? Let’s go. Trip to Greece? No problem.

Because of the way they treat their employees and the customer service.

I had a very bad experience here in RyanAir. I booked a flight at 7am, at 5am, I was already in the airport and the line for checking in is very very long. They also said that they will open the desks at 730am (past my flight). The online checking in didn't work, except only for booking a "first class". I was forced to pay double the price, and when I got in, we were only 7ppl on board.

Food was not that good as well.

It's the faraway airports, and the fact that you have a "final boarding" call 45 minutes before departure and you end up standing in the hall/crammed into a small room for half an hour before boarding... Once in the air (and as long as you follow the baggage rules) there is no real drawback over the legacy carriers...

People hating on Ryanair is just like people hating on Mcdonalds just because it's unhealthy; you know what you're paying for and they deliver nothing else

Ryanair is NOT half price of other airlines, unless you buy your ticket three months in advance.
Most of the time it’s the same price or just slightly lower than other airlines.
After you pay for your ticket they will try to extract more money from you in every imaginable way they can.

Ryanair are really the pioneers of unbundling. They’re always the first to make passengers pay for stuff they previously got for free. Other airlines just aren’t brave enough but eventually they end up copying Ryanair’s unbundling just to compete with Ryanair on price.

Personally, I’ve always needed some form of extra baggage and that quickly stacks up per person and per way to amount to similar to other airlines. Maybe it’s because I’m not looking for a cheap flight to anywhere as I choose my destination/holiday first but I personally don’t think it’s actually that cheap once you add bags

As an immigration agent in Dublin once told me recently, "if everything is running smoothly, Ryanair is grand. If ANYTHING goes wrong... good luck."
This summarizes it well for me - yes, you can save money, which is great. However, if you have any delays or cancellations, get caught in a long security line and miss your flight, have a lost bag, need to rebook your flight, etc, good luck. You'll be completely abandoned under the excuse of absolute minimum service, even when something isn't your fault. Just look at what they did during the pandemic; some people booked flights that they couldn't end up taking because of last-minute pandemic movement restrictions that barred them from getting to the airport, and Ryanair refused to refund these passengers - and when those passengers then tried to get their money back through their credit card via chargebacks, Ryanair put those passengers on a blacklist and refused to let them fly with Ryanair again until they had paid the airline back. Sheesh.
Ryanair serves a purpose - but for peace of mind, if I have any another reasonable option, I'll avoid them. There's something to be said about being treated like a human being when dealing with a company, and I've found that while airlines like Lufthansa, KLM, etc are far from perfect, they generally do try to help you out when something goes wrong and have more established protocols in doing so.

Never had issues with Ryanair. It is totally ok for 2 - 4 hours.

Ryanair is fine, if the airports suit and you need no frills. When you do add on priority etc to take a cabin bag, sometimes it can be cheaper to just fly BA. I was a frequent flyer from London to Dublin for 4 years. I can't speak for other routes but that's my experience.

My issue with Ryanair is their numerous attempts to discriminate against passengers with disabilities, e.g., wanting to charge extra for wheelchairs and numerous others that were, thankfully not implemented. My attitude is that they obviously don’t want passengers like me so I’m not giving them my money. I would genuinely rather spend 24 hours on buses than fly with them.

It's only worth to fly with them if you are living right next to a secondary airport where they are flying to/from, and you are travelling with a backpack. Otherwise, their extras and the transfer to the airports adding up so much that it's costs either just a little bit less, maybe the same but most of the cases even more than you are flying with a legacy carrier not even talking about their ridiculously inconvenient departure/arrival times.
