BMW's entry-level SUV, the 2023 BMW X1, has been a big success for some time thanks to its agile handling, eager nature, and practical shape. The 2023 BMW X1 model has received a complete redesign that looks to be a comprehensive upgrade over last year's model, with improvements to its chassis, powertrain, and updated with a more modern design and the latest tech features.

The spunky little sibling in the Volvo lineup is the 2023 Volvo XC40, which blends Volvo's focus on safety and upscale ambiance with a more youthful character. it is arguably the most visually attractive subcompact luxury SUV out there. It’s boxy, proportioned well and features the trademark Swedish design we love. Volvo prodded this year’s 2023 Volvo XC40 with a number of updates too.

And with both offering luxury, performance, and practicality. in this video, we will take a closer look at at their designs inside and out, pricing and how they drive. so without any further ado, lets get into it.

I was going to buy the XC40, as the annual car awards here have given it the top spot in the 'Small luxury SUV' category for the last three years. But Volvo have dropped the self parking feature from the 2023 model, at least here in Australia. Not even available as an option. That was a deal breaker for me. So have bought the X1. And really prefer its cleaner, more open internal appearance. Was in a friend's new XC40 Electric yesterday and was not so impressed - felt a bit old fashioned in comparison to the X1. And there seemed to be much less space in the back seat of the Volvo in comparison to the BMW. And the BMW operating system seems more comprehensive than the Volvo. I was worried by the lack of buttons, and had vowed not to buy a car where you had to use the touch screen for just about everything. But everything is available on Voice control, so I just have to say 'Hey BMW' and it is ready for whatever I want to ask it. And you get to put 8 screens up on the Favourites pull-down screen, so the things that you want often can be access by just swiping down on the screen. Also Volvo had only wired Apple Car Play vs wireless on the BMW. My last comparison point was the sun roof on the two cars. Hot here in Australia, and I wanted a sun roof that completely blocked out the heat when the blind is closed. The Volvo has a shade cloth that cuts out lots of it, but the BMW has a full block out blind. There are sure to be things about the Volvo that I would have been impressed with, but I am happy with having gone for the BMW.

The XC40 isn’t the same as it was on 2018… It’s 10x times more attractive the new X1

The Volvo internal screen looks like a old 2010 ‘own brand’ Android tablet vs the BMW’s screen that’s as sharp and modern as a 2023 iPad Pro!
