also this x1 is fully specced and the GLC 200d is the most basic version out there, no options whatsoever.

why would you compare a BMW X1, starting price €39k, to a GLC 2023, starting price €56k? You can compare a GLC 400e to a BMW X5 when it comes to quality, design, comfort, tech, ... definitely not an X1 ..
