I think the main thing to take away from all these state ranking videos is that statistics can be very misleading at face value, and that context is key to gain any useful info from statistics.

I can see this. High poverty rates combined with a macho honor culture, plus easy access to guns seems like a recipe for high crime. I say that as someone who supports reasonable gun rights, so don't take that as a political statement.

as a person who lives in TN this is kinda funny and sucks too.. 2 cities especially Memphis drags the entire state down. but overall it’s a country ass state. as long as you don’t go to memphis or the hood in nashville the rest of the state is great, beautiful, and filled with a lot of good folks. i’ve never been big on city life anyway so im just speaking with my experiences of living in really small towns and the country.. i fkn love it out here. about the only things you got to worry about living out here in the country is coyotes and the occasional meth head thats trying to scope shit out. but usually they know most of the places they are scoping there’s probably guns inside. so usually you don’t hear much about that but it does happen on occasion. i’ll always love ole Rocky Top Tennessee 🤘🏻
