I agree with you, I had a close friend about ten years ago but as the years have gone by the relationship waned because I noticed their quiet jealousy and self centered behavior. The last few years they pretend not to notice my texts or say “oh I forgot, ” going on vacation during my birthday and withholding important information. So I ignore it as I haven’t noticed and have pulled away, refusing this person to cause me to become bitter, only having to see them a few times a month. In the last five years I have nurtured a new friendship that is a two-way relationship with both of us contributing to the relationship and now are best friends, mutually having each other’s back.
