It always starts with them admiring all that I do, who’s in my circle, what my male friends do for me, my children, my level of independence, my achievements, my sense of style—just whatever. The next phase is they try to emulate what comes natural to me. Then they discover that they can’t do what I do, go where I go, kick with who I kick it with (because #1 it ain’t me, it’s God using me as a vessel—my daily prayer). Then the hate starts. I think a lot of people are just jealous of you because you CLEARLY enjoy being you, and they want you to want to be them! Especially, if they see themselves as the cream of the crop, and you give them compliments for their achievements, and then go right on being you and loving it. It’s like…they can’t understand that! Tell me if I’m wrong people. The person who is jealous, envious and insecure will not only show it in what they say, their body language etc, but you can see it in their eyes. Their eyes show pure evilness while what’s coming out of their mouth may be saying otherwise.

Jealousy manifests through passive aggressive behaviour. It took me a while to realise that a former friend was actually jealous and displaying passive aggressive tactics to undermine, minimise or denigrate me, my accomplishments, different aspects of my life in general. And her opinion was always the correct one. Only her experiences, her advice mattered. A lot of my comments or opinions, which she solicited regularly, were dismissed or ignored altogether. Interestingly, she never tried these tactics in front of others, only when we were alone. Pretty insecure, juvenile behaviour on her part. I stopped socializing with her. It was a good decision on my part.
