So basically, they figured out how to sell a handful of moss at significantly higher markup by adding a plastinc enclosure and a fan.

Hipyo: “You would need over 2, 000 house plants to purify enough air for 1 person”

My gf: “hold my beer”

Now I have a good excuse to buy 2000 house plants. Sorry babe I’m purifying the air 💁🏻‍♀️

Not even to mention how humidifiers are already so prone to mold formation! Especially if that's an ultrasonic humidifier. Throwing unrestricted moss on top of that is insane

I sell moss terrariums for a living, and last year my friends, family, fans and associates kept showing this to me, asking why I don’t do something similar. Thanks for summarizing the reasons in this video, I can show this to them.

This reminds me of that ridiculous "juicer" that just squeezed a giant Capri Sun into your cup that was like $2000

Thanks for taking your time and clearing these misconception. So many people would have bought it without knowing it.

That's a lawsuit just waiting to happen.

I would not put the real moss in it and probably fill the clear part with warhammer figures and use it as a humidifier/ display for my hobby space

Fun fact: while most plants aren’t very efficient at purifying air, algae is very efficient. As little as 1 kilogram of algae can supply a person with oxygen for a day. The issue is to grow 1kg of algae you need roughly 1000L of water. (A lot) it is possible to clean your air with plants. It just doesn’t look like you’d expect.

Isn't like, illegal to make so many fake claims to market a product that is dangerous??

$100 air polluter vs 2000 free plants directly from nature (I'd take the 2000 plants since my room would look sick af)

So, the EPA bans my actual air purifier/humidifier because dismantling it with a hack saw and blowtorch might choke someone. But, it let this be sold unchecked. Sounds about right.

In my head i saw it and went "thats not a purifier but a desk humidifier and...moss? Is this a tiny desk garden??" But no way that would ever pass for an air purifier

so the Ficus is still the reigning champion of oxygen supplement in the house still.
it's been 20 years with that thing, it has refused to die

... not until we have sci-fi nanobots, you don't!

Joelcreates did a similar thing with algae to filter the carbon dioxide out of the air for a net 0 effect and it worked! It just took a TON of algae

You think there would be legislation and law preventing products that are hazardous, from being made marketed and sold….

"in natural ecosystems, you have bugs that will eat mold so that the moss doesn't just turn into an absolute biohazard" wow, who knew those little critters were good for more than just being frog food
