“The EPA recommends 120 degrees because it's hot enough to keep diseases at bay, it's not hot enough to cause scalding, it will supply enough hot water for most small families and is relatively energy-efficient”

I googled so you don't have to :)

120° fahrenheit -> 48, 8° celsius
140° fahrenheit -> 60° celsius
150° fahrenheit -> 65, 5° celsius

You are giving great tips for new moms! It’s surprising how many mothers leave the baby in the bath with water and walk away which is a big no-no! Keep up the good work, mama!

This was so helpful I’m 17 and I know nothing and I’m about to be a new mom😭

Hi everyone! I’ve been seeing all of these wonderful comments and it has really uplifted me and helped me through this! I have since this comment given birth to my beautiful baby boy, who was born a month or 2 ago!❤️

When I was 5, my mom told me to watch my few-month-old brother in the bath while she stepped out to grab something. I don't remember how long she was gone, but it can't have been more than a minute. Well, I got distracted, and when she came back, he had slipped down in his bath seat and was underwater. He was totally fine, instinct kicked in and he didn't breathe down there, but yeah. She was mad at me, but I think really more mad at herself. Pretty sure she never had me watch him in the bath again, ha.

All this to say: get a bath seat that's secure, and do NOT leave them unattended by you.

Not mentioned, and seems obvious, but maybe not - get everything you need for the bath ready and on hand before you even get baby in the bath, then you should not have to even turn your back for a second. Lay out the towel and have the new diaper and outfit ready. All of mine (I have 7) hated baths in the first few months (screaming so loud), so you need to be prepared to go fast. For newborns, I usually do a sponge bath instead of a full submerge. They get cold really fast and that startles them. Lay them on a towel on a soft surface, put another towel on top to keep warm, and wash body parts individually while keeping the rest covered. Then swaddle them in a towel and hold them along your arm so you had is supportig their head. Hold their head over a basin or sink and wash their head/hair. You do not need soap on their face, but if you have a rolly baby, definitely use some in those folds.

The ears! My girl got her dad's ears, definitely need to bend them forward and clean behind them. This is a cute video TY💗

Thank you! I've seen too many babies with vernix & dried blood still behind their ears. 🤢 I know some mom's don't know, that's why I'm thanking you for this video.

I love baby tubs like that, with the little hammock for fresh little babies before the cord heals. I like to give mine a daily bath but if you skip a day you can always wipe them down with a warm wet washcloth. They get milk dripped into their chubby necks sometimes, gotta keep them clean.

My cousin had a lot of rolls on her face when she was a baby, and of course milk got stuck in them. Well, she was my aunts first kid, so she didn't know she had to clean those rolls, so the milk got trapped and started to smell. Long story short my cousin basically made cheese in her cheeks when she was a baby lol

Also last thing I like to do is get between their toesies with the washcloth! In case there's any lint from their onesies or socks

I never gave my son a bath in the tub until he outgrew the kitchen sink. We had one of those “Angel Bath” seats and it fit perfectly. Using our (clean) kitchen sink saved my back from having to lean over a tub. We always set the water to 90-93*. That’s comfortably warm but not hot.

Another tip! Wrap a wet thin blanket around them when they’re in the water, and move it aside to wash them. I just gave my baby his second bath and I did this, but I didn’t do it for his first one. For his first bath he SCREAMED, but he was completely fine the second time!

you should try a giant bath sponge. lays them in the bath on a soft surface. but then can be squeezed out and rolled up after it's dry taking WAY less space than those huge annoying baby baths.
