Gotta be careful, they aren't all silica. Some of those packets are oxygen absorbing rusty metal. That's how they get rid of the oxygen in a pack. by it turning in to Iron-Oxide as it rusts out. So don't start going ham and start eating little packets in stuff, they aren't all "safe", they could be rusted metal shavings.

The silica is dangerous because it absorbs moisture so well. It can expand in or dry out places where you don't want that to happen.

Fun fact: If your phone gets wet, you can put it in a container full of those silica packets to help it. It works better than rice apparently

Guys, silica gel is very good at absorbing water, which means if you eat it could seriously dry out your body. DO NOT EAT THEM!!! Also the post-it one was actually helpful😊

The packs are actually not poisonous at all, but they still pose a threat if someone eats them. They will absorb all of the water in your mouth, causing you to choke on them.

Keep the silica gel and use it in small areas where you don’t want moisture. I use it in outdoor watertight containers in case that “watertight” part doesn’t hold up.
