Pretty handy guy myself, wasn't scared to take on an alternator replacement but this saved me a TON of time listing tools and belt routing. Kudos sir, very much appreciated.

Oh man! Thanks much for posting this video! I was able to get it switched out and replaced all for 150 bucks while the auto shop wanted to charge me 500$ for all of it! Keep doing what you are doing! Helping a lot of people on here!

My dad and I replaced the altinator in my 2007 4Runner today. Had a few hiccups but thank you for this helpful video. Just wish mine came apart and went back together as easy as yours looked to do. 😅

Brian, You do an outstanding job explaining procedures on your videos. Makes it much easier for us diving into these type of repairs.

Thank you so much! My alternator went out and all the other videos were talking about removing sway bars, etc. and then I found your video. Watched the video a couple of times and then took my laptop out with me to have the video to refer to and I was able to change it. I don't know how much money you saved me, but I feel sure it was a lot. Thank you!!

Wow! I did this on a 2007 4Runner. Watched this video one time through and tackled the repair. The only hiccup was the new alternator took some extra elbow grease to get the lower bolt all lined up but a file, WD40, and taking the top back loose to get the bottom back on. Otherwise easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

Very well done....all of your "How To" videos are well done. I followed your great instructions with a couple of minor exceptions. I didn't remove the tensioner pulley but did remove top portion of radiator hose and my skid plate was off. The battery was already out (had to be replaced) and belt was off as it had broken/shredded due to alternator pulley freezing up. Ended up snaking old alt. out the bottom, but somehow the replacement dropped back in through the opening at top(??).

Your video was a big in locating all the connectors and 10mm bolts. Thank you for your help. EL

Replaced my alternator, bro thank you ao much!!! Saved me time and money, funny thing with these 4th gens, when the alternator goes bad yr dash lights UP!! ABS, BRAKE, AIRBAG LIGHTS all go off. Had no idea til a guy who knew what he was talking about told me the alternator, I had the fuses checked all the wires everything was good! I popped 3 battery's including an optima red top all leaked acid everywhere. Wish I saw this video earlier it would've saved me a ton more time and money.

I truly do appreciate this because me and my stepdad have been struggling so now we know we need to take the idler pulley off

I just want to let you know how much I appreciate this video. I have a 2006, and had to swap out my alternator. This information was EXACTLY what I needed to put everything back together. I was trying to hold the tensioner from up top, and it just does not work. I also did not know about the pin (Allen wrench) insert, to keep the tensioner at bay. Man! What a help you were. THANK YOU. Do you have a patreon page?

Thanks for an informative and helpful video. I have an 06 Tundra with a 4.0 liter V6 and could not find an instructive video for my truck, but this one served perfectly. Start to finish I was done in an hour.

Thanks for the video! And thanks to Jursaw who commented about not removing the idler pulley - a little less room, but not necessary to remove. I changed the alternator on my friend’s 05 yesterday. Hardest part was breaking the bolts loose. Someone torqued those suckers down! Used PB Blaster and a breaker bar.
Also had trouble removing the nut off the positive lead - the brass stud - on the alternator itself. Ended up just cutting the nut off.

Great video as always. Especially like the use of tools tips like breaking something loose with one type of tool and then speeding it off with a lighter duty cordless tool. the experience you share is priceless!!!

Great help, Brian! Taking off the clips, the battery tray to start made all the difference. Perfect video for my 2006 Tacoma. Thanks a bunch.
