Binging with Babish: Il Timpano from Big Night

Is this laborious, old-school Italian showstopper just a fat, kinky lasagna? Or is there something more, good enough to make stage and film actor Ian Holm want to kill you?

Methods adapted from The Food Lab, David Lebovitz, and America's Test Kitchen.

Jesus, the balls on this guy, making Timpano for his second video!
No wonder he's become such a legend.

Its weird coming back and seeing how far he’s come. The theme song in the beginning, the small kitchen, the “oliver babish”. Ive been watching him for years now and can’t believe how much this channels grown

The fact that all of the dinner guests are dressed within the Babish color palette is exquisite

Babish now: "I've got a 38 inch griddle plate, a bathtub full of defrosting exotic meats, and this afternoon I'm throwing a badass barbecue fundraiser for a deserving family, and buying my brother a Tesla."

Babish then: *"A new camera angle!"*

Really sad to hear about Oliver’s passing but I’m happy to see that Andrew took over the show

I just made this for 9 friends. First off, the sauce was spectacular. Best tomato sauce I've made. Second, it baked perfectly and people loved the "everything" casserole. That's really it, I really enjoyed making it. FYI it's still warm after a 1.5 hour rest.

Man, being Babish’s friend irl must be so dope. He cooks so many amazing and quirky food dishes and it always seems like he really enjoys sharing it all with his friends.

There's something so sweet and wholesome about how he put in the guests cheering him on as he cut into the thing. Brought a smile to my face.

If you put out a cook book that listed out steps and ingredients but also included a QR code or something to get to a video like this I'd absolutely buy that book. Your videos are the audio version of what cooking comically is text wise.

This video is so magical to rewatch. All of his hopes and dreams laid out. He went so big in his second episode, and every time i rewatch, I think off all the videos, the trendings, the cameos on other channels, all of it. So happy for him. Andrew or Oliver, whatever he wants to be called, I will always be happy for him. His level of commitment is the reason this paid off.
