Investing did not scare me when I was young. I understood the concepts and reasons why I should do it. What prevented me from starting at a younger age was 1. I had no interest. I was a student and did not make a lot. I wanted to wait until I had a career. And 2. the taxes. I did not understand or want to deal with the tax consequences from interest, dividends and capital gains. It would really help if this was taught in high school. I did learn taxes in my HS US Government class but investing was not part of it.
