The first question is, “ What is left over ice cream?” It does make sense though. The peanut butter trick is one that I have used for maybe fifteen years. It still needs to be stirred, but does not splash the oil all over your hand and the counter. Thank you for the great tips.

I’ve been using the plastic food wrap method for years and have never had ice crystals forming on my ice cream. The trick is to make sure the plastic wrap is pushed down directly onto the ice cream so there are no air pockets.

Or, you can put a sheet of aluminum foil over the top of the Ice cream.. works just the same

Plastic wrap makes the most sense. It's flexible and cheap.

I lay a piece of plastic wrap on top and press it down with whatever cloth I have handy to push out the air. Only takes a couple of seconds and works 100%.
