I like this tip. Is there any way to stop your ice cubes tasting like rubber or is it just my ice cube tray? Should I cover the tray with a sheet of plastic wrap to stop it getting freezer burn as well or are ice cubes not affected by that?

Here in Brazil ice cream comes in 2 liters plastic containers, so this was really, really useful. Unfortunately the ones in paper containers are usually much more expensive (Häagen-Dazs is only for really rich people here...).

the problem with cutting the container is that the container is tapered as soon as you cut some away the lid will no longer fit tightly. the wax paper or plastic wrap is a good idea though.

If you fill the empty space with Doritos Consomme it will displace the air and prevent freezer burn. It will however give the ice cream an aftertaste of 'stale joke'.

If you cut the container its not gonna seal properly and you have a big gap.

It's either your ice tray or some other odor in your freezer. Why would you worry about ice... getting more ice on top of the ice. It's freaking ice!
