How to use Quick Access on Windows 10 Technical Preview

When you open File Explorer on Windows 10 Technical Preview, it opens to Quick Access by default. Think of Quick Access as a section where you can place shortcuts to your favorite folders. It also displays recently viewed files and frequently used folders by default. We'll show you how to use Quick Access and what checkboxes to uncheck if you're concerned about other people seeing your most frequently viewed folder.

Hi I got a question, I recently installed Windows 10 (preview) but I found out that the verification system is not avaible anymore, so Windows keeps asking me to insert the verification code, and it wouldnt allowd me to change any option like wallpaper or themes, what can I do?

I need your advise: The "Recent files" on my "Quick access" folder is sowing "(0)" - no files.
I went to ...View.. Options... I made sure the 2 boxes of Privacy are checked ... I also went on Restoring Default.... but the Resent files still show "(0)" files... Any advise how to restore it so I will be able to see (20) files?

I've found QA to be everything but quick. The only thing that works decently is recently opened files. Any time I try to open a folder from quick access it takes minutes to load. For instance if I try to navigate to downloads folder, it takes about 2-3 minutes for it to load the folders contents. Meanwhile manually navigating to downloads via c:\users\myuser\downloads only takes about 5 seconds. I like the idea, but currently it's not working. P.S. I do have an SSD.

Nice, so they're basically aiming to remove the "Library" thing altogether? I hope so because no one i know uses it.

Also, small thing but i'd like them to use the icon in the right click popup. They already have dedicated space for an icon there, why not put the new there? I think they should do this for most things in the right-click menu. Would be better affordance for the user.

It's definitely a good improvement over the typical file explorer main page, but seeing all the extra stuff kept disorienting me during the short time I used the technical preview. Good to know I can turn it off.

Good. They basically banished the libraries folder into the ghetto in Windows 8/8.1, and I never used the favourites. This looks like a better replacement for both.

my browser is given me tough time and if I click on close button, part of my screen would be dark and if I click again a dialog box appear indicating Quick access is not responding. I don't know exactly what the problem is.

i change my File Explorer to open This PC instead of Quick access by default. Within File Explorer, in the View tab of the ribbon, click Options and then the "Open File Explorer to:" dropdown in the General tab. Voila!

Just disable it so that when you open Explorer it goes straight to My Computer (oops, I mean This PC). Quick access is useless.
