Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:21)

This comment section is exhibit A for Joe's video on Protestant essential doctrines. Majority of Protestants have an understanding of baptism that was invented in the 17th century

Baptists be like "I hate Baptism"

Baptism by water saves not by itself but with faith.
They try desperately to juggle the scripture to claim baptism is not needed or that it implies simply baptizing by the spirit and has nothing to do with subversion. Even though the entirety of scripture says it is indeed necessary.

Do not he deceived by people who use only single verses to claim their theory.
To be baptized in water is to die with christ and be born again when we come.up. a symbol of being washed in his blood.

It is not a catholic ideal. It belongs to no denomination but is required by Christ and The Father.

Many use the theif on the cross as some example that itnisnt necessary.
However much of scripture refutes that in many obvious ways.

The new covenant was not in effect until the moment of christs death first off. Thus christ still had the power to forgive sins on earth just as he told the pharisees when the cripple was lowered from the roof.

2nd he described his crucifixion as a baptism to James and John sons of zebedee when their mother asked christ for them to sit at his left and right hand.

It is necessary to repent of your sins to be born anew.

Realize whenever someone like this comes they need to juggle scripture to make their point when you can easily use the entirety of scripture to prove it is infact and without doubt necessary.

As for the church he speaks of. They received the first part. They became a church after John baptized them for repentance of sin after they showed fruits worthy of repentance. Thus you had to be worthy of true repentance.

Again it is necessary.
Not as some symbol to show that you belong to the body of christ. You show that in how you live. How you teach. In being a witness for what christ has done in your life.

Many churches claim that it is simply a symbol and thus take all importance from it.

Does not this same church he claims, also claim that all religions lead to God?
Or that gay marriage is ok?

Do not be deceived

Protestants can’t even agree on what baptism or what it’s for.

Being born again is being born twice - first water (natural birth) then being born again (from above) by the Spirit. Baptism isn't in view - passage talks in twos water and the spirit, the flesh and the spirit, born and born again. Contrasting them, not making them the same.

If its about water why then the Lord only mentions the Spirit in the next verse then makes illustration of the wind.

Water doesnt save you because water is earthly

Spirit regenerates

Thats why that which is born of Spirit is Spirit

Baptism of immersion is an act of repentance and a symbol of forgiveness of sins, but baptism of the holyspirit is the true born again experience Ephesians 1v 13-14, 2 Corinthians 1v 21-23.
Note that paul did not sprinkle water or baptise by immersion but he laid his hand on them prayed for the impartation of the holy spirit. Water baptism is different from holyspirit baptism its not the same thing.

What translation are you using? The translations I have say nothing about “entering”

“Unless one is born again he cannot SEE the kingdom of God”

There is a difference.

Show me where the word or even the concept of baptism is in John 3. Great point it literally is not there unless you read it into being there.

Baptism of the Spirit is in the Eucharist. Because it contains the Spirit which comes down when being blessed by the Priest like the dewfall. Dew is water and the wafer is turned into the Spirit itself and brought to life. Repentance comes first -johns baptism.

Water baptism does not save you.
1. Thief on the cross.
2. Adding anything to the gospel is to say that Jesus’ death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation.
3. Acts 16:31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
4. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Baptism is an important step of obedience that every Christian should take but clearly it plays no role in salvation.

Although baptism is necessary and was given to believers as a seal of our faith in Crist Jesus, done using water, it is not the right interpretation of John 3:3. Baptism is carried out by Church, by believers to a new believer, but the new birth is only by God. We are born from above and no one has control over the new birth and Jesus explains human parents bore our flesh but the Spirit bore our spirit. No one can tell where, when and whom the Spirit of God will bore, v8. It is entirely God's work. Water in John 3 does not signify baptismal water. We can only know by comparing Scriptures like 1 Peter 1:23 which talks about being born again by incorruptible Word of God. Ephesians 5:26 talks about Christ sanctifying and cleansing the Church with "the washing of water by the word." Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Through the preaching of the Word of God (Romans 10:14-15) the Spirit makes us alive ~ thus water in John 3: is the Word of God preached to the spiritually dead in order to receive the new birth.

Or the logical interpretation that born of water and the spirit as a natural birth and then born of the spirit through the baptism of the spirit.
As John the Baptist said that he baptized with water, but Jesus would baptize with the Holy Ghost.

Jesus commands us to be baptized. Yes, we have to obey Jesus.

The word "bsptism" is mentioned several times in the NT, including the mouth of Jesus.

If John 3, 5 was about baptism, Jesus would have used that word.

There is absolutely no reason to think he is talking about baptism there. While baptism is mentioned later in this chapter (John 3:22-30), that is in a totally different setting (Judea instead of Jerusalem) and at a different time from the discussion with Nicodemus. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is baptized and born of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Further, if Jesus had made such a statement, He would have contradicted numerous other Bible passages that make it clear that salvation is by faith (John 3:16; John 3:36; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5).

WHen Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus, the ordinance of Christian baptism was not yet in effect.

Baptism is about act of obedience and choosing to be a disciple of Christ. That is what was going on with the Eunuch in Acts 8 in the desert. The act of baptism in and of itself, does not alter a persons relationship with God in anyway.

When Jesus was talking to Nicodemus born of water is referring to childbirth.
