Throwing a Particularly Angled Vase — From Start to Finish

Here's the concluding part to a film I made about throwing a VERY angular vase recently, this time though, I'm catching you up with the trimming, the waxing, the troublesome glazing, the reduction firing to cone ten, (1290ºC0), and finally I'll show you the finished, glass clad pot. Although after completing this simple flower vase I'm dying to recreate it with the crimson clay and glaze I've been developing more recently... Thanks so much for watching! I'd be honoured if you could leave a like, it's tremendously helpful.

Hey, Forian. Thank you for the consistency of your content. Not just frequency of uploads, but consistency of quality. It's second to none, really.

It's a beautiful shape. I like two toned glazes. Switching dark and light would be interesting, and I can't wait to see more of your red series.

I really love your content. It is so aesthetically pleasing!
I have nothing to do with pottery myself. But because of your videos, I am thinking of trying it myself.
I really appreciate your videos, they are just so calming because of your neat and clean work and your calm narration. I always look forward to a new video and in the meantime I like to watch some previous ones! ❤

I don't know, Florian... I think I like this color combination with the darker green outside. The lighter green on top of the lip makes sense to me because of the way the light hits it. I so love your work.

I learn little details every time you post. My teacher was really surprised at how much progress I made pulling porcelain recently despite not a lot of time on the wheel. I’d have to credit you with that. Please continue- your discipline is inspiring!

I wold love to see you make some pieces that are just for display and show your style in its most extreme, something super angular, something with a lot of edges . It may not be functional but something so interesting as to be kept inca museum and recognisable as a florian piece

Absolutely the best video so far! Great tips in pulling and shaping. Thank you for being so generous in sharing your knowledge with us. It helps people like me, that love pottery and with every throw do one thing right and five things wrong:)

Hey, I am a very long time follower.
I love you work.

Is there a chance you can do a kiln unloading video from start to finish?

Additionally, out of curiosity, what is the % of work per firing that are unsaleable or requires reglazing, etc. It would be really interesting from a professional potters perspective as some days i feel as if 50% of my kiln loads end up being bin jobs!

Also, any chance you can share your glaze recipes 😂( I suspect that this will be a no!).

Incredible as always, both the pottery and the videography.

I'm curious, what would have happened if that pebble had been somewhere else where it wasn't visible, and the vase had gone into the kiln with it still stuck in there? Would it have affected the longevity of the piece at all, or the glazing?

Very nice. Have you experimented with adding lugs or handles to your vases? I can see how 2 or 3 very simple lugs could really compliment the angles. Also if you don't mind, it looks as if your glaze does have a slight crackle in it, how or why did you settle on that recipe? I'm asking because I have a glaze that appears to have a similar crackling pattern which I like, but it doesn't really impart any additional structural strength to the clay.
