Happy new year! My resolution, at least for the next few months, is throwing some larger vessels for a few exciting projects coming this year. Thanks so much for following along, it really does mean the world to me. I hope you like the video and thanks, as always, for watching!

Timecodes:
0:00 - Introduction and spiral wedging clay
1:04 - The vase I want to recreate
1:40 - Centring the lump of clay
3:07 - Opening up the lump of clay
4:12 - LIFTING WITH THE HEEL OF MY HAND
9:23 - Correcting the rim
10:27 - The final form

I'll be trimming this pot in next week's upload, so stay tuned.

These larger, one-off pieces look like a fun challenge to make

Really cool to see you make something bigger! I’d love to see you experiment more and try new forms or types of vessels this year!

In Korea they make these huge pots to ferment stuff. They make these pots by making long snakes of clay and spiral them up to make the general shape, then pressed them together and shape them smooth. They have these massive furnaces that are very long and narrow.

Wow, Florian. Don't leave us hanging. I'm going to see that pot spinning ever so slowly all week!
Truly lovely to see the 'same but different' techniques applied to the larger pot.

I look forward to your 2023 work! I recently applied for studio space at a local place so soon I'll have 24/7 access to this terrific art form.

Your videos are so inspiring and at the same time so soothing. I am thinking of using them as a meditation tool. 😁

What are the green flakes in the turn table tray when you threw the vase?

Why are the prices so much higher than other hand made pottery?
