What is the true meaning of James 2? Was James saying you need works to be saved???

A lot of pharisees twist james 2 out of context to teach works salvation. they do this with many other Bible passages, and ignore the 100+ faith alone Bible verses. These false teachers are unlearned and unstable and wrest the scriptures to their own destruction. Jesus Christ said in John 11:25-26, "25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" WORKS SALVATION IS A FALSE GOSPEL THAT DAMNS SOULS TO HELL!!!!

How To Be Saved.

1. The bad News. We are sinners. (Romans 3:23.) We deserve to be punished in hell for our sins.

2. The Good News. Jesus Christ who is God's Son died on the cross for your sins. He was buried & rose again to give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4. Romans 6:23.)

3. How am I saved? "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31.) Faith alone in Christ alone.

4. Once saved, always saved. Jesus said in John 6:47 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life."

Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Yes__ No__

Salvation is the gift of God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ plus nothing minus nothing works do not save you nor keep you saved if salvation was by works than grace would no longer be grace faith and works only justify in the eyes of man but only faith in Jesus in your heart as Lord and Savior justifies you in the eyes of God

Amen brother it’s soo crazy how 90% of Christians believe in a works based salvation and that my friend means they are doomed. That’s why it says that broad is the path that leads to destruction and many will go. But narrow is the path to salvation and few will go. It’s soooo clear idk how u could get it wrong. Its talking about salvation but not salvation from hell. In context its about being delivered (saved) from a negative assessment when judged by the 'law of liberty' (James 2:12-13)

Correct. Works do not save us, prove we are saved, or keep us saved. After we are saved, we do works out of love for what he has done for us, through the Holy Spirit, for his glory and not for adoration or pride. These works trusters always intermarry salvation with post-salvific service.

I dont think the "profitable unto man" argument is what James is saying by "what does it profit". The profiting is from not having a negative assessment when judged by the law of liberty, mentioned in ch 2. James brings up Abrahams faith about sacrificing his Son (James 2:21)....there were no other witnesses around when that occured to "profit" from seeing that. So its really focused on God vindicating (justifying) a believers obedience, which will profit them now and at the judgement seat of Christ. Believers in fellowship is profitable to the people around them, but i dont think thats the point in James.
