The world just shifted a bit. It is coming faster all the time.
I think we are in for civil unrest so even though I live in a fairly stable community looters and idiots can be unpredictable.
Security is now my target goal.

Security needs to be #1 priority. Everything else follows that.

Check with your local community for a CERT volunteer group. We learned live fire extinguisher training, first aid, triage, and much, much, more in the required 30 hours of training. Plus we do live drills and monthly meetings, which put us in contact with others who have the same interests.

An acoustic instrument can break the boredom for people too. We have guitars, ukeleles, mandolin and violin, though guitars are our main instrument. At least learn how to tune them. Even if someone sucks at vocals, let them sing. lol Music is a great stress relief. If its bad enough, all will soon be sleeping well.

I dread lack of quality drinking water from the tap more than any other utility. Good job defining between filtering and disinfection. Big difference. I got some good bag filters from McMaster-Carr for a good price. Disinfection can be unscented chlorine, rotated every 6 months. A half gallon at a time should be plenty. Only takes a few drops per liter. (6.5%)

A home gym needs to be nothing more than a kettle bell, slam ball, and space enough for body weight exercises. We have a heavy bag, but also screwed 2 old tires to the wall for striking bare handed or with weapons. Want more ? A bench and some adjustable dumbells go a long way. We have a stationary bike and cable machine also. We could stay in shape with less.

Nutrition ? We can't grow anything but weeds, except some peppers and tomatoes some years. So we got a dehydrator and learned how to dry and powder those nutritional weeds to add to canned soups and dishes. Takes up less space than canning plus maintains more vitamins.

That leads us to fertilizer. We keep meat rabbits. They eat most of our raw vegetable scrape and turn it into instant fertilizer. Doesn't so us much good since we are terrible farmers. But the poop (also known as bunny berries) can be sold or bartered. It also attracts nice fat fishing worms. Gotta breed them every 6 months or the females have trouble producing due to fat building around the ovaries. Take them out of the cage and let them run around, the fat usually burns off and they start making babies again. When you don't expect it. lol Ok, 6 paragraphs is enough.

With hygiene, hydration, food prep, pets, 2 gallons a day is a minimum for me. More if someone gets ill. More water is my number one goal right now.

You always see pantries with glass jars on shelves. Put a barrier in front to keep the jars from shaking off

Don't forget toilet plugs, so sewerage doesn't back up into you house. Make sure that you have enough extension cords, if you have a generator also that they are the right gage, I got 12 gage because it can handle the power going through them. Appreciate the information.
