I'm shocked that Toyota is still shipping vehicles with the poor design of the sun visor, which is too short to cover the entire width of the side window. I have a '98 Toyota 4Runner (with nearly 330, 000 miles on it!) and it has essentially the same small sun visors as the new Corolla Cross. I've actually resorted to attaching a piece of cardboard to the visor with a couple big rubber bands so I can slide the cardboard to block the sun whenever I'm driving with the sun to the left side of my vehicle. This design problem could be resolved with a simple insert that slides out of the visor to extend it to cover the width of the window.

Toyota has a reputation for dependability, but they seriously lack thoughtful design in their interiors, which is where we spend all of our time as owners. The low price of the L trim is enticing, but after learning it comes with plastic wheel covers and lacks extremely basic features like a rear wiper and variable-speed front wipers, I had to dismiss it. The LE trim is the sweet spot for me, but at about $26, 500, it's pricey and there is a lot of competition, some of which have a better warranty, drive better, and have better interiors. The Corolla Cross will probably outlive them all, but you have to sacrifice so much else to make that happen. It's a tough call. I do like the clean, handsome exterior design of the Corolla Cross and the interior has a comfortable driver's seat. The excellent predicted reliability is also very enticing.

This car will go for ever. Routine maintenance and good to go for 250, 000 to 300, 000 miles.

I agree with you especially with the short centre console. I have Honda CRV and I enjoy cruising and resting my right elbow on the console holding the steering wheel as well.

I agree with you completely. Toyota are all about the engineering of the machine. User comfort and design esthetic be damned. They don't even care how ugly their exterior design is. Granted you do have a very reliable car. Thanks for your video.

I own the Toyota CROSS Hybrid and love the vehicle. I understand your point and perspectives. I wish Toyota was able to customise the vehicle to individual preference, like an appliance which can be customised. Love this SUV and its performance. Thanks for letting us know your preference.

Put a document pouch on the visor and you can slide it over for more shade.

I was going to buy an L until I discovered that there was no rear wiper so I ordered an LE which in the long run I’m sure I will be glad I did as the LE has lots of good stuff like aluminum wheels, painted mirrors, push button start and automatic climate control.

The headrests solve the problem of having backseat drivers. I would not buy the L model because it does not come with Blind Spot Monitor. I have a 2021 Camry with BLM and I can honestly say that I love BSM so much that I will not buy a new vehicle that does not have it. I have a 2023 Corolla Cross LE on order and I should get it in a few weeks.

Hello from Toronto Canada ... GREAT VIDEO ... not negative but factual. I'm 5' nothing and all of these points I would notice too, probably after the fact as well. I rely on that arm rest for elbow as well. Your visual is exactly how I would be sitting. Back seat passengers would be stressed not to see out front, I know I would as is a natural response. Thank you for taking the time to bring these points to the surface. I too am looking at buy a Cross

just get an LE or XLE visor and replace it...they have the pullout extensions...remember, you gotthe L model which doesn't have all the bells and whistles..apparently, the visor is a bell or at least a whistle...and the rear window does a great job at defrosting so you really don't need the wiper...just another thing that can break

I pretty much agree with you, except the gap in front. To me it’s not a big deal

The center front arm rest slides forward in a regarlar corolla and the hood is has that gap for air flo the plastic thing in the grill comes out so your tow hook screws into it

The Subaru Crosstrek has a wider visor -- with an extension. I'm glad I made the right choice 🙂

The sun visor, I never use. The console, I prefer it not touching my elbows so there is no obstruction in my full range of motion. The protruded middle seat at the back, it’s OK bec I only allow two pax at the back. The gap between hood and headlight, just OK bec it will make air flow ventilation in the engine more effective.

I appreciate the review! I live in Southern California and I have a beloved 2010 Matrix S that I am looking to replace. I wish they still made the Matrix! I got to see a 2022 Cross XLE in person today. My dealer called me as soon as one came in, and the car actually sold while *I* was test driving it! Haha! I didn't want to buy that one anyway, but I thought that was funny. I was trying to decide between 2023 Rav4 Hybrid and Cross Hybrid. I liked the car-like feel parking the Cross (and def prefer the lower price), but the Rav4 felt nicer and the cargo and large dog-hauling capability is very important to me. I will nearly always have the rear seats down. The Cross has a big hump with the seats down, the Rav has a gentle slope. The gas engine didn't seem terribly underpowered (as I had heard) coming from the Matrix, nor the road noise loud. But the engine did rev pretty high when I accelerated. Still it was way better than the Subaru Crosstrek. That car is slow as Xmas. (Or... slow as ordering a Toyota hybrid...)
