"I know writers who use subtext and they're all cowards" - Bong Joon Ho probably.

When referring to a great new movie, can we adopt the phrase “An absolute Bonger” please.

This is the first review I've seen (out of many) where it's been summarised with eloquence and succinctly enough to intrigue me. I will seek this one out.

It’s very entertaining but also very messy. I don’t think it really explores its philosophical themes that much. Still worth a watch.

How can Micky know what it’s like to die if his memory is a weekly backup from just before he has died. This bugged me throughout the film

I feel like I’m the only person who loved this film! It was over-the-top and so much fun. I think the critics are being nit-picky and over-analytical regarding its themes. It’s a great time without needing to highlight any serious topics. Yes, Parasite and Snowpiercer do this brilliantly; they are both excellent and deservedly highly-praised films for this reason, but Mickey 17 was for me an incredibly enjoyable film as is.

What I liked about moon is that I saw it after oblivion, knowing nothing about it, and it was still a great reveal, great movie.

"Robert Pattinson said I'm going to throw myself into the bong world."

The sound design in Mickey 17 is not just different. It is groundbreaking. The creatures feel alive, equal to the human characters in presence and importance.

Far too many ideas thrown at the wall, without exploring them enough. And just some absolutely pointless plot points, thrown in for little to no reason. The girl who wants mickey 17 for herself, serves absolutely no purpose, same goes for the fake out ending, which the only purpose is to bookend the stupid and pointless sauce subplot.

When I saw the Toni Collette character I immediately thought of Tilda Swinton in Okja. Okja is a great wee film. I cried like a baby at the end.

The pacing for the first 2 acts are brilliant. Great exposition, narration and storytelling. I read somewhere that the film was delayed due to issues around the length of the movie and had to be heavily edited down. This shows in the final act and epilogue which drags. It would been a great tight 90 min movie and not the 2 hr 17 min we got. And also some characters such Kai and his best mate (played by the great Steven Yeun ) should have been left on the cutting room floor. Sometimes I forgot he was even in the movie especially in the 3rd act (a cameo at the beginning of the movie to set up the plot would have sufficed). But overall an enjoyable movie. Pattinson as always is brilliant

I got Terry Gilliam vibes from the movie, which is a great thing!

Don't get the hate for this film .
Yea it's messy but me and my cousins loved it.
Some terrific acting particularly Mark Ruffalo . His character was grotesque to perfection.

Has Simon got no idea of the power of the Hey Mickey earworm?! Do you KNOW what you've just done to all your subscribers?!

Always enjoyable to get your take on things. Got out see Mickey 17 last night . A strange experience - maddeningly frustrating, yet weirdly enjoyable. If. Had to sum it up in one word it’d be ‘scatological’! M

I'll watch literally anything Bong makes. Expecting the unexpected is what I'm there for!

I think Bong meant to make it so chaotic with this one
