Tom reviews the new 2020 Toyota RAV4 SUV with the two-litre petrol and provides an expert opinion.

Is the hybrid RAV4 really worth the extra spend? Should you save money and buy the Toyota RAV4 GX Manual instead? Here, we take a look at a rare specification of new RAV4 – the base two-litre petrol manual offering that goes for about $30,000. Should you buy a RAV4 instead of a small SUV? Is the Toyota RAV4 better than the Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Tucson? We reveal all the answers about the RAV4. In today’s video, Tom reviews the 2020 Toyota RAV4 FWD Manual in Silver over black.

What do you think of this version of the RAV4? Is the hybrid clearly better? Do you prefer to spend less when you buy, or save cash when you fill up? Or is diesel a better alternative than either? Let me know your thoughts below. Would you consider it? Is it too small? Comment below!

A review of the base model is fantastic because there’s something to compare to with the higher trims. Nice work!

I do wish automakers would offer manuals on the higher trims instead of the base model. I get there's not much demand for them, and I know this is a SUV, but for the people that do like and enjoy having a manual, it kind of sucks that their only choice is the most spartan model.

I'm surprised & impressed seeing that Toyotas are still doing manuals with the RAV4. Good video Tom. I'm a bit old school. I prefer manuals over autos any day :)

Most people fear manuals nowadays but for me I love manual cars especially the ones with soft clutch and short throw gear changes

cvt transmission still worried me, better have a manual transmission and save 2.5 grands.

Hybrid power train is semi reliable past 145k miles. Higher resale might make up for that, but if you don't plan on reselling, the base model has longer expected longevity imho

In some EU markets the 2.0 manual was available in higher trim and with awd, I'm not sure they still are now post facelift. On the used market the difference between an awd 2.0 and a 2.5 i-awd hybrid is so small it doesn't make much sense

Nice review, I happen to absolutely love buying my own extra thick extra gelly steering cover or would ever consider leather or shagpile but yeah.... The best part about buying a Toyota is getting the smallest engines base model manual and go out and buy ur own steering cover and whack some sticky tape around it. Awesome .

Did he say the GX was $30, 990? I can't see them this cheap! Seems the manual GX 2.0 litre is around $36k brand new as at Oct 2020 on the Toyota website. Can anyone explain this?

This might sound dumb but I've never had a automatic tailgate on a car before till now, if I'm in a shopping cantre and open the boot will the boot continue upward til it hits the roof of the shopcntre car park? Or will it not even go that high? It looks like it could hit the roof of the building and don't wanna risk it

so according to you the hybrid will save you only 3 liters per 100km which is nothing! So unless you are driving 30000km per year the hybrid doesn't make any sense for me...the plugin hybrid will be a different story though...
