That holster is for a Calvary solider. The idea is that it is jointed to permit comfortable sitting in a saddle.
There are many well made repros out there. Get a good one, care for it, and it will serve you a lifetime.

5 years later. I bought a USGI WW 2 holster that had been dyed black in Korea or Vietnam. It’s in great shape. Can’t use it at an IDPA match, but it’s cool to have.

You need the leather shoelace at the bottom, a knot, then ten inches hanging, one a little longer than the other. See us army .45 pistol training film, 1944.

If you take good care of leather, it should last a lifetime.

If I were you I would keep that 1911 holster under lock and key I don't think you know how rear that holster is because it's a Calverley holster that's why there's a swivel on it so when the holster is tied down to the leg the holster moves as you sit and does not bend your belt the ilet is on the back of the holster instead of being through the end of the holster so when you wear it the tie down does not show8 as much I also think by its construction its a officers personal holster not a issue one or he had a basic issue holster altered is so this points to it belonging to a high rank offier coronal or above

If you have a 45, you need to have the war holster . It is sad when you think that things like this will soon be gone .

These are made in India and are quite nice. I have one of these India made holsters for my Luger and am happy with it. I just ordered holsters for my 1911A1, Colt 1917 and Webley pistols.

Can these fit 1873 colt SAAs? The shorter models?

I saw those holsters then I saw the bianchi m12 holsters I'm buying a bianchi for my 1911a1, but luckily my Allen company holster fits my 1911a1 and it's a nice strong nylon fabric webbing design and I was thinking about getting one, but I would buy Vietnam era 1911 mag pouch

What’s the metal clip for on the back? How does it attach to a belt?

Awesome! I've been considering one of those the last couple of days for my ATI.
And no, I won't trade my grips for one ;)

Nice. Is there anyway you can wear it on a regular belt?

It looks like it's in great shape. Too bad there aren't too many Southpaw ones out there.

I have an original holster from ww2.... And it looks about as good as yours. Think of the things It's seen!

We are not allowed guns in the UK legally and watching your videos is great. One day I hope to travel there and visit a gun range to unleash my anger about not being allowed to have these amazing guns.
