Should You Get A Vibra-Screed To Screed Your Concrete Floors?

In this video I'm sharing with you if I think you should get a Vibra-Screed to screed your concrete floors. Does using a power screed like Marshalltown's Shockwave make screeding concrete easier or harder?

I've been screeding concrete floors and slabs for almost 40 years. I learned to wet screed and kick screed concrete so this is what was "normal" for me to do. It took me quite a few years to even try a vibra-screed after they first came out.

After trying many of the different models and brands out there, I settled on Marshalltown's Shockwave vibrating screed. The ease of use is the best feature of this power screed. I really like how smoothly this screed operates. It starts with one pull, the on/off button is easy to access, the throttle is easy to control, the handle grips are adjustable, and operating it is a breeze.

You can easily screed concrete on big or small jobs. You can also adjust the screed board size fairly quickly if you need to and have different length boards.

I highly recommend this vibra-screed, it's the one I use on my jobs and for the price I don't think you can go wrong choosing this power screed.

Marshalltown is the leader in the concrete tools industry and stands behind all their products as well as having top notch customer service.

I’ve thought long and hard about giving these things a try(just from watching them being used by you) but I have a small crew (just me and my brother) so we do everything from raking, rodding, and finishing. So we are pretty busy for a pour. The only downside I would see to switching to a standup vibra screed is needing 2 guys raking while one guy is running it. Other than that it’s soooo much better than bending over for an entire pour! I love watching your videos, and even tho we’ve been doing this for 25 years, I still learn something new every time. Good work Mike =)

Yes pls have another draw for the viberscreed. Mike I've done concrete foundation for about seven years, but I've just started my own flat work company and would love to give the Marshalltown viberscreed a test run and will be buying your concrete stamping course over the next couple months since I live in niagara Canada and this is our down time for flat work. Cheers keep these videos coming, great work brother!

Another great video Mike! It was cool to see how you selected the contest winner.... Very transparent and stand up. Even better was the way you worked that vibra screed.... You make it look effortless. I enjoy your videos so much I recently signed up for one of your courses. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next video.

I also came up in the 80 s and 90s power screed is a heck of a tool. It took a long time to sell me on one . I have seen guys mess a floor up with one so I wasn't to happy about it. But it looks like you were doing a really good job of it.

Consistent throttle, consistent speed while pulling, and good rakers are the key to using vibra screeds. Like a child crawls before they walk, a finisher should know how to hand screed before running a vibra screed. Nice work on these slabs. Your crews work well together!

Hey Mike. Have two of these screeds. They tend to work better with a pipe or board to support each side. I do like the the sharp edge and roll on the front that helps keep the mud moving. I have a magic screed that is fully inclosed and filled with foam. They really tend to stay afloat when running wet on both sides. Nice video.

Power screeds are the cats meow, as long as you have good rakers, we learned to use them for every application grades and all they do a very fine job. never had a problem nuke testing the floor for level after always in spec. The older Multi-quip brands offered all sizes of screed boards even over 16` where it uses 2 motor/handle sets. Only note is if you get one make sure your rakers are as good as the finishers they can make or break the game because raking is actually a skill when you use a power screed.

I bought a honda powered screed a few months ago. I have a slab that is 48 by 72 that I will use it for that one. I have trouble getting people that want to work for any amount of money. I will probably do this slab by myself 12 by 72 sections at a time. I plan on drilling dowel pins to tie the slab parts together (never done it this way, but way too large for just me to pour in one pour). Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will still use a bull float and a power trowel to get the surface as near perfect as I can. Concrete floor in the next week. Anyway, love you videos, I have done concrete jobs all my life, I watch your videos for great pointers.

I love those vibra-screeds...I love how smooth the concrete looks after it passes over the concrete and I also love being one of the rakers raking the concrete be it behind the vibra screed or when the concrete is pumping out fresh from the pump hose
