Vibrating Screeds - Which One To Get (Do You Need One?)

This video is about vibratory screeds, power screeds, vibra-screeds, and battery operated vibrating screeds.
I've used a lot of vibrating screeds over the last 40 years. Most of them work really nice. Currently my favorites are MBW's Screedemon, both gas powered and battery operated screeds. I also like the Shockwave from Marshalltown a lot. Either one would be a good choice if you looking to buy one for your business.
I've also used the Vibrastrike and the Multivibe power screeds.
The one thing I don't like about the Vibrastrike is the handle setup. The hand grip area isn't adjustable and causes some fatigue on larger pours.
The Multivibe screed is a good all around power screed.
Links for these are all below for you to check them out.

I think you could make a great living just selling your videos. Not only are you an Ace with concrete, you make people feel comfortable with learning. Take it from me, there's lots of good men out there that only want to be good at there job but struggle with learning.

I really have absorbed your video's. Getting ready to pour my first pad with a couple of nephews and my son. 25x30 pad for a prefab metal building. Planning a 4" slab 3K PSI with microfiber. Central KY has both freeze and thaw cycles and your videos have given me the confidence to give this small farm project a go. It will be a low risk adventure since it's my own my own project and I hope to share a successful story with you. Thanks for all the great info.

Which one would you prefer for residential driveways? That machine looks like it really save my back 👍👍👍👍🤛🏻🤛🏻🤛🏻🤛🏻

I pour with them all the time in commercial stuff. I'm generally a puddler behind one though, and we use 12 or 16 footers only. They are insane with how much faster they make things, and how much it saves your back. We can pour and rod off 5 to 600 yards in an 8 hour day as long as the trucks keep up no problem.

I never saw a power screed in my career, but I did see before I retired ride-on whirly birds, which blew my mind! Thanks for the shout out for the rakers. That was my gig. Love watching this crew. Pleasure working with people who know what they’re doin, and I’ve been on both sides of that coin, not always knowing the people I had to work with.

I run the viber strike, but I put my handlebar's lower and it helps a lot. I'm able to lean back more and stand farther away from the bar, it also gives your muckers more room

I watch your videos and the concrete ninja from Australia, ,,and he hand screeds everything does a nice job with it, in all that heat in that country !! Always 1 guy on the screeds !! Thats what I always preferred to do, ,,,screed myself !! Being 6ft5 always found it hard running a power screed or troweling machine handles not meant for someone tall !!

I think the screed demon is the future of Manual Power screeds. It’s lighter, don’t have to deal with gas, or gas fumes and you could swap blades very quickly. Another thing is the triangle shape blades don’t warp or get bent as easily as an angled blade…. Keep on rocking…..

If I had rakers like you do Mike, a cheap 2x4 would do.

I have been using allen magic screed forever. My dad stared using them when they first came out in the early 90's. To tell you the truth in have never tried anything besides a allen magic screed. Sometime I should demo something new.

I ran a single handle vibra strike for 15 years until I switched to the 2 handle vibra strike. I just turn down handle to make it comfortable.

I use a vibra strike but it's the single handle head. Works good for us. Use it on just about everything. Need good puddlers no matter how you do it. Did couple 300 yd and a 450 yd slab with one

Just curious to how long your screed board is on the machine? I've been doing concrete all my life my dad and grandpa have been doing it since early 80s.. but I've only ever tried to use a vibrating board one time and it was awkward and heavy.. probably was the cheapest version you can get.. wasn't mine. Anyway I'm looking to get one but I want to know what's the best screed board length to make it work easily. I have a 4ft, 10ft, 14ft, and 16ft aluminum and magnesium boards for hand screeding but my grandad retired and Dad's getting old and I need something to make our job easier. I see they have tomahawk brands for much cheaper but do you think it's better to go ahead and spend way more money for a better brand? Thanks for your time and God bless
