How to quiet fan - Noctua NA-SAV2 anti-vibration mounts (slics) - TIPS and TRICKS

Building a silent computer - use GentleTyphoon 120 mm fan in a combination with Noctua NA-SAV2 anti-vibration mounts.

The new series Gentle Typhoon 120 mm fans produce especially high static pressure combined with optimized fan blade design. They are fitted with double ball bearing and boast a life span of up to 100.000 hours at 35°C. To further reduce noise, a newly developed motor with drive train, disposing a special double vibration reduction structure, is deployed. Added dampening rings further reduce vibrations effectively. The GentleTyphoon achieves high airflow volume and low noise with newly designed impeller which enables silent cooling of the latest devices which run very hot. The GentleTyphoon has a different type of tone. The fan propeller is designed to reduce the disturbing frequency fan noise to your ears. The newly designed motor and motor support mechanism of the GentleTyphoon uses a double vibration reduction structure. The new support mechanism uses coil dampers to greatly reduce vibration.

The NA-SAV2 is a fan accessory set consisting of twenty NA-AV2 Anti-Vibration Mounts for up to five fans. Replacing standard fan screws, the NA-AV2 mounts allow for a convenient, quick and vibration-free installation of fans in standard case fan mounting holes. The double-side design makes the NA-AV2 easier to work with in space restricted environments and thanks to the use of premium grade rubber, these mounts are extra soft and highly tear-proof at the same time. Switching standard fan screws for NA-AV2 mounts can drastically reduce structure-borne noises and makes this set a perfect complement for Noctua’s redux and industrialPPC fans!

You should take a hint from Noctua and spend the rest of your existence studying and perfecting the art of noise reduction.

I recently bought these things and installed just like in this Video.
My upper Case Fans were noisy and made the whole case vibrate on higher RPMs.
I just used them on 2 of my 6 Fans.
I still can hear the Fans on highest RPMs obviously.
But now Noise is totally OK and no annoying Vibrations.
If you are thinking on buying these I got only 2 words for you guys:
DO IT

I would definitely rethink these sort of intros and loud sounds.

We get that you stick the thing, in the thing... Tell us if it makes a difference over using regular screws and if you can quantify that difference with a dB measurement using a free app on your smart phone.

The interesting thing is that Noctua instructions specifically mention not to do it this way(you need to put them through the case and than put the fan on) in order not to damage the rubber.

Most noise comes from air turbulence at higher RPM and some from bearing suspension as the fan gets older. Stick with case fans at 1200 rpm and less. (1200, 1000, 800 rpm nearly silent). If a fan vibrates, try to spin it out of the case...it may be unbalanced. If it is, consider tossing it. When a cheaper fan gets a year old, try a single drop of light oil (synthetic preferably) on the center spindle. There is a cap seal that you have to take out, then replace after the drop goes in. Its on the side of the fan with a label on it and if you are careful, the label can be restuck back on. The fan will spin faster and quieter for another year because of that drop. Sleeve fans, while the quietest early in their life, suffer from lubricant starvation when used mounted on the bottom or top of a case. Mounted on the front, back or side doesn't bother them. Its the ones laid flat that run dry and require a drop of oil. Sewing machine or synthetic. I use a light weight of Mobil 1 automotive : 20W It will add years to a fans durability and make them quieter.

What is it with tech Youtubers and putting the loudest, most grating, most transcendently obnoxious "music" possible over a simple explanatory video?

I got some Noctua fans for my Mikrotik switch. Now I know what these tiny dildos are for. Thanks.

I'll keep to what I'm using given it's going on a switch
