This is what I’m doing with my current partner. He calls; I answer. He falls back; I don’t step forward to fill the space. I have my own life so he doesn’t think I’m just waiting for him. There was a boy I grew up in church with. I wanted him so bad. I prayed for years that he’d like me and would date me. I grew more desperate and started calling his house in high school. I sent him presents. I asked him to prom but he said he had to work (different schools).
