The best thing you can do in Bali is try and get to know the local people. Balinese and Indonesians in general are some of the most, easygoing, gentle, grateful and funny people, with a rich and complex culture.

Just back from our first visit and I’d like to add: The Botanical Gardens are beautiful and so relaxing too. The Sea Salt factory in Ahmed is interesting — Black Penny Restaurant in Ubud a must! What a view for lunch!! SCUBA diving with the Manta Rays at Manta Point off Nusa Penida island — likely my best dive in 40 years!! Lempuyang Temple (did you mention it? maybe I missed that…) - lots of people but spectacular views and temple. Thanks for your great “Top 50” summary!! Steve on 6 March 2023
