In this London guide Joolz Guides tells you about the birth of the stock exchange and insurance industry, and also visits where Ebeneezer Scrooge worked in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Between Cornhill and Lombard street in the city of London is where numerous coffee houses and coffee shops sprang up, frequented by bankers and insurance brokers. In fact, the first exchange of marketable stocks happened in Change Alley.
See also the Old Jamaica Inn, the oldest surviving coffee house in London.

Ok I’m going to need to challenge something. I thought the oldest surviving coffee house was the one in Acton. Old Jamaica inn has a better name and vibe but where have I got my story from?
