Thank you very inspiring, im thinking as iv'e got a load of old space crusade stuff I could use that and your rules for a sort of space marine boarding actions game.

I think you could draw a lot of inspiration from the D&D board games - Castle Ravenloft, Wrath of Ashardalon, and The Legend of Drizzt Board Game. Hope this helps you, I love the videos and good luck!

My only basic criticism is that when you moved to the second example with "hero 2" versus the knight, it was an awful lot of dice to throw around to figure out whether or not a single character was hit. I know that if I had to throw 18 dice at once in my D&D group they would be flying all over the place and would be very hard to keep track of. I don't know how many people you intend this game to be played with, but it's just a thought.

Keep up the good work! It's looking nice. : )

Wow, didn't notice ;) but when you look at 40k a guardsman is practically the same size as a marine that should, technically be three heads higher, pretty cool to see some scale

just an idea:

I'd swap the d20 for d10 in the damage chart it allows for a more even damage advancement in 2s instead of an 8 point jump every 6 str.

As an additional crit success bonus for heros, every time the hero doubles the deffenders number of success they get an additional d20 damage.

ex:
hero: 10 successes
deffender: 2 successes

hero would get his strength +7 and an additional 2 d20 critical damage because 10 doubles the deffenders successes 2 times. (4 fits into 10 twice)

Not gunna lie the title "00005" got my attention for some reason. It was mysterious I suppose.

I don't know whether you have seen any of the TwoHourWargames products, but they do some nice systems such as 'SwordPlay' which is also a FREE, yes I did say FREE pdf download from their website.
You might like to peruse this to get some other perspectives of Close Combat resolution ideas.
Once again

As a Wargamer you get used to Rolling Ludicrous amounts of dice.

I thought the initiative felt a bit unnecessary,
In your first battle I just assumed that the heroes attacked on their turn and that the ratman would get to attack back on his turn.
Although initiative would be important if a combat continues until one side is killed. but it doesn't feel like some thing that needs to be rolled for. if you find your self trying to reduce the amount of dice rolling then a higher "i" going first would be fine.

Oh, I was under the impression that this would be a modular board game. My bad.

I like your system but i wounder if you thougt to use magic weapon and armor to add to rollresult instead of gain dices. ex: a great magic weapon adds +2 to CC rolls which makes a roll of 2+ a success or a great magic armor adds +2 to DV rolls which make a 2+ a success.

When you said Vampire, do you mean White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade or Vampire: The Requiem?

Dear Alexandra

A very commendable effort. I do particularly enjoy your enthusiasm.
But, I do feel the combat mechanics are becoming too much a 'buckets of dice' system!
This works quite nicely for a one off participation game at a convention with kids to introduce them to basic wargaming, but I think it will become far too unwieldy in a multi-character skirmish or RPG combat resolution.
I do enjoy your videos though, so please keep it up

I guess i would say to many dice. Maybe it would be better to give bonus to hit.

If you want to take your prototype to the next step check out thegamecrafter com. it's a print on demand company in the united states that specializes game development and printing.

Why not stop the dice conversion, so if you mean D20+D6 you write D26. The whole table is obsolete at that moment only with the addition that you always take the biggest dice possible.
Strenth 13 -> strenth 2D20+D4 -> strenth D44. The character card only reads D44.

It's cool to see you working on a boardgame.
For my taste the dice pool looks like it gets too big really quickly.
That, and shifting from dice pool to the 'Earthdawn' chart for damage feels... inelegant... clumsy. Not intuitive. I see no inherent value in using the ED chart.
Have you looked at the One Roll Engine (ORE) RPGs? They have a clever dice pool combat system which maxes out at 10 dice... but with more information than just hit/miss.

Well in all fairness the other models were a dwarf and a rat.

I'm already starting to see a problem. Way too many dice. Perhaps you could simplify it or cut the numbers so that your game uses no more than like 10 dice.
