In 1907 Roger Pocock came up with the Legion of Frontiersmen, he created them based on the idea that we had people on the Frontiers of the empire, this created the initial idea for British intelligence, it was also the first British troops into combat in the first world war, MOD did not like them as they preferred irregula warfare and when ww2 came along they were not allowed to create their own unit and were the cause for the Home Guard and LRDG and indirectly SAS.

Probably one of the most influential organisations most have never heard off.

As a bonus he also discussed the idea with a Baden Powell, Powell created a youth movement called the Scouts and many frontiersmen were the original scout masters hence the similar uniforms
