Once when I was sick and had Panadol, I was sleeping deeply, my cat pushed my hand with her nose, scratched my arm and finally smelled my nose to check on my breath… after that she was sleeping beside me for many days… like a guardian

My cat thinks I'm hiding snacks from him. And he's right.

There was a stretch where i had really bad night terrors and would wake up screaming almost every night. My Tortie Lily started climbing into bed with me and when night terrors would start, she started clawing me awake before they got too bad. Good kitty.

I always figured they are afraid I might do something interesting without them. 😂

I notice my cat hangs out in strategic locations in the house that allow her to have an eye or ear on everyone in the house.

Cats, like dogs, feel more secure knowing their humans are all right. I had a cat that went deaf. Not being able to hear the bustle of her humans made her very distressed. Had they abandoned her? She started yowling loudly in the middle of the night. One look at one of us and she was back to normal.

One of my cats would follow me (without me knowing) for ~1 km, when I went to visit friends. He would then march in through their front door, come straight to me, and sit at my feet, staring at me. He didn't "check in" on me....He stalked me.
His sister would turn up within 5 minutes.

The sweet ginger tabby from across the street stops by and "knocks" on my door to let me know he's thinking of me. I'm NOT kidding! He's one incredible feline pal! I just pray and hope that adorable and sweet cat remains safe crossing my street. 😻❤

Cats own humans and like to check on their pets once in a while.

People like to joke that cats “own” us, think of themselves as royalty, or only respect food sources, but they are actually naturally-social creatures with huge amounts of empathy. The way they act and communicate is just different than humans and I wish people understood that more. :(

I'm an unwell man and my cat looks after me as though she is a little nurse. We share the double bed in the guest room sometimes and she sleeps on two pillows and my head is on the other two. I kid you not- I woke up to her gently stroking my head with one paw 2 days ago. It was beautiful. We don't give cats enough credit for just how intelligent they are.

When I get sick, my cat Dax stays in the bed with me by my pillow. When I was asleep in the bathtub once, my cat Crookshanks meowed in my ear really loud. I think he was trying to keep me from drowning. There's no way I was going to drown, but he didn't know that. I have some really nurturing cats.

When my girlfriend tripped and fell and broke her ankle our cat literally jumped out of the top of the cat tree running to her, she just knew something bad had happened and she has done this several other times for other reasons. She is extremely protectful and often just comes aroubd to make sure you are ok.

My cat always knew when I was sad and would always come cuddle when I needed it. Best cat ever. RIP Ino.

I got one of my horrible cluster migraines when I was house sitting for my family, I was also watching our new family member and he was just a few months in. But I remember falling asleep in the sofa and covering my head trying to get relieve when I felt our new family member lay its whole body on my chest and purr. I couldn’t help but shed a tear not from pain but from how much I loved him for even noticing let alone trying to help me. Jojo is always going to have a place In my heart from that day on. A great kitty!

My cat can tell if I'm sick or depressed. He will lay in bed with me all day if I'm having an off day. Cat's are amazing.

Catless home: something breaks at night = burglar
Cat home: the night is silent = something's wrong with the cat

Cats know we're slow and squishy and a bit dim. Lord knows what we could do to ourselves without constant cat supervision.

My cat, Domino, knew something was up and that there was stress and commotion in the house when I was getting ready to leave for uni. She’d check in on me when I was packing and gave me a send off. She also knew when my dog was dying. She’d head butt and snuggle up with my poor old lady when she clearly had only a few more days in her. Cats can be incredibly intuitive, much like dogs.
