Am I the only one who just meows back? I have no idea what we're talking about, but apparently they're very deep conversations that end with me petting her.

One of mine is a talker. I sometimes talk to myself when working out problems, and if I do that he comes over and makes it a conversation.

On the note of changes causing stress/vocalisation - we went to visit relatives last summer for about ten days, which was the longest we'd been away from the cat since lockdowns started. Our cat was *extremely* quiet when we got her and still doesn't talk all that much, but when we got back from this trip there was one moment where she walked into the living room, stared at us in a way that honestly felt like the cat version of clearing her throat... then opened her mouth and just YELLED for about twenty seconds straight. And then she seemed to consider the matter settled, she'd expressed her displeasure and was happy to continue on as normal.

As much as it bothers me some times, one time my cat got sick and didn't make noise for days until he was finally able to let one the tiniest, most scraggly raspy meow I'd ever heard from him. Most beautiful sound

Not only is my cat a talker, she sounds like she’s been smoking a pack a day for 20 years

Our cat meows when he feels excluded. He often doesn't want to play, he just wants to be included. To make him stop we usually have to move his cat tree next to us so he calmly can go back to ignoring us, but like, within the social circle.

My cat is definitely talking to me! He's silent whilst I'm asleep but the second he knows I'm awake, he lets me know!!

My husband is an animal whisperer lol... our cat is silent and chill with me during the day, but the SECOND he walks in the door, she immediately goes to her food dish and starts meowing at him. He gives her a treat, she eats it, stays meowing again until he sits down so she can get on his lap. She has got that man TRAINED 😂 It's really super cute 😍

My 20 year old cat went deaf...and that's when the crying started. We didn't figure it out for a bit. He made it to 21. Good boy.

My kitty is an attention seeking chatterbox. She loves to wait until mommy's on a conference call and then come over and cry like she's been neglected for a month 😂

Every chatty cat I’ve met has been a very social and loving cat. I know that won’t apply to all chatty cats, but my experience with talking cats has been amazing ❤

My kitty was quiet as a ghost when we adopted her and her sister litter mate. After a year of adoption one of our kitties was diagnosed with cell cancer and we have to say goodbye to her. After her passing our kitty, starfire, never stops talking. I love it and it generally means she just wants attention or someone to play with since she used to harass her sister and play 24/7. We love her and have supported her through this grief and I like her tiny meows.

My Ragdoll is super talkative after she eats and I finally realized that after I acknowledge her that she will stop talking. It's like she's thanking me for her meal. So cute.

My cat yells at me when the water bowl has something floating in it, as if I put it there to ruin his life.😂

I LOVE that my sweet boy talks a lot. I can tell a lot about how he's feeling based on his tone of voice because he does vocalize so much. I love that about him!

Our cat is chatty. Not overly but definitely talkative and not just responsive. We often meow also and figure he must be befuddled by all the poor grammar.

My cat yells at me on behalf of the dog. If I'm late feeding him breakfast or taking him on his mid-day walk, the cat tells me about it.

our cat isn't too much of a talker. She only "talks" when:
She is on the floor and wants on the bed
She is on the bed and wants to go to the floor
She is on the floor, but you are on the bed
She wants pets
She doesn't want pets
Her foodbowl is empty
Her foodbowl is full but she hasn't worked that out yet
She believes it's feeding time
You've woken up and are moving around
You've gone to the toilet
She wants cuddles
She doesn't want cuddles
You aren't petting her just right
You're petting her purrfectly
She wants me to go to bed (She will literally boss me into bed so she can jump onto the bed and lay on me)
My partner (her original owner) is next to me and occupying the spot that she might want to occupy at some point in the future
My partner isn't next to me and she wants her whole family in the same spot
The wrong person is holding her
The right person is holding her.
She can't find the person she wants to see at this moment in time
She has found the person she wants to see
She feels like talking to the person she wanted to see
She is inside and wants to go outside
She is outside and wants to come back in
She is inside but thinks that maybe at some point she might want to go outside
She wants the backdoor open just to be open, so she can consider if she might want to think that maybe she might want to go outside at point.
She's feeling sassy.

Other than that she's pretty silent

My ginger tabby LOVES to hear himself talk. He will be playing and then he starts meowing up a storm. We even talk to him and he answers back. He's not in pain or angry, he just LOVES to talk. We love it.
