I actually mainly built underground metro because in Central-Eastern Europe metro is just associated with being almost entirely underground.

I love roleplaying while building my cities; I only build underground around areas where it's already built-up and make overgrounds at newer ones where cims get to enjoy the skyline from afar.

I did underground my first few days of building metro ingame but my first partially above-ground line was really helpful in deciding when to add lines because I could see the train's crowdedness.

I made an entire metro line above ground that crosses the entire downtown and residential areas just so I could spend hours in first person mode on the train POV

The public transport system in Cities 2 is a complete mess. It’s like they’ve tossed punctuality out the window. Sometimes, buses stop for over 5 minutes in real time, even with the simulation speed set to 1. Meanwhile, all the buses and trams behind are left waiting indefinitely. In real life, reliability is everything for transit systems, but Cities 2 seems to have forgotten that. I was managing with mods, but now even those aren’t working. Why do players have to rely on mods for basic functionality that should be in the vanilla game?

I got an internal metro that serves on the main city core, with another metro line that shares union station, after that orbital line leaves the heart of the city, it goes elevated once it hits the water and connects some of the far flung areas. Almost everything else is served by busses or streetcars, and some streetcar lines were bus routes initially

I try to build aboveground BRT. Well aboveground everything. It’s just visually more enticing that way

I don’t build it all elevated. I do build a good amount of it elevated, but there’s also a lot that is in an open air trench. Only the stations downtown are completely underground for my city.

In Vancouver Canada the Skytrain has different lines, the Canada Line that runs from Richmond to downtown Vancouver is above ground from Vancouver Airport to Marine Drive station, and then from there it goes completely underground until the last stop in downtown Vancouver at Waterfront Station. The other lines also go underground once they arrive near the downtown core but outside of downtown they are above ground when you leave the DT area, known as the Expo line and the Millenium line.

Above metro is much more fun, but then when putting a building you have to create a hole for the trains, which cities have already dine
