Is Healing Part of the Atonement? (PART 2)

In this episode, Richard broaches the subject of healing being part of the atonement which has been taught in many churches since the mid-1800s. Richard springboards the discussion by reading an article that he wrote on A.B. Simpson. Which was originally proposed by A.B. Simpson in the late 1800s and has become the belief of the Word of Faith, and New Apostolic Reformation, and has unfortunately crept in to many Evangelical denominations. Many believe that physical healing for this life is part of the salvific atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross. This is an aberrant teaching that comes from founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, A.B. Simpson. In PART 1 Richard will dealt with Bill Johnson's aberrant teaching, which says that the gospel includes physical healing and PART 2 Richard will show the history of where this idea comes from. Divine healing comes from A.B. Simpson and his "Four Fold Gospel" teaching. Thanks for tuning into to PART 2.

This is exactly like the gaslighting I was told, you've got some secret sin or you don't have enough faith. 😢 So evil 😈

Thank you Pastor Moore, the Assemblies of God teaches this. I was born with a very deformed leg and foot and some of the horrible things I was told was just so wrong. I am so glad I left the AOG in 2004.

I went to churches that taught a work based nonsense. So greatful God brought me out of such. It was such a terrible experience. Now I attend a wonderful church where the scriptures are taught in context. We are also using this book for Sunday school and it’s really great! Great Truths of the Bible Dr. Alan B Stringfellow. Thanks Richard for also teaching us the full truth of the Bible.

Thanks Richard. I'd never heard of A B Simpson before. It explains a lot. It's amazing how false teachings are perpetuated. By the way, I did some research into Isaiah 53:5. The word healed comes from the Hebrew word rapha which can mean either physical healing or spiritual healing as in the following examples.
Psa 41:4 KJV I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal [rapha] my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Jer 3:22 KJV Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal [rapha] your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.
Hos 14:4 KJV I will heal [rapha] their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

The question about going a significant time without getting sick-- I didn't get even a cold during the first year of the pandemic. I got laid off from my job when lockdowns went in place. I usually get sick a couple times each winter, but didn't at all during the winter of 2020-2021. But I don't believe it's because I'm a believer, but because I wasn't in close proximity to a lot of people. Its hard to spread germs when you don't spend any time around others.

jesus never used his divinity for his own defense or glory, but he humbled himself, humled himself, but did not away his divinity

My husband and I almost lost our Christian faith from the prosperity gospel. It is a lie from the pit of Hell!..Read your Bible and the Holy Spirit will guide you into His truth🙏

If healing was wrapped in the atonement, it wouldn't require all these people telling us for it to happen. We would just miraculously be healed of all of our illnesses and such at the moment of our salvation. It's not like there's part of the gospel that was stripped out for 2000 years and God is now just putting it back in.

So far as I know, the doctrine of Extreme Unction is two-fold as you describe.

A subject of great interest, I strongly believe physical healing is in the atonement for all Believers in Yeshua. Spiritual and physical healing is paid for by the precious blood of Yeshua for all his children. _The question is whether one receives his healing this side of eternity or in heaven._ I have a huge problem with the WOF/ NAR camp's teaching on healing which negates the sovereignty of God, and ultimately results in judging the sick Believer if he fails to receive.

However, I would always want to err on the side of encouraging Believers to press in for their healing, even if they've suffered over many years. (E.g. the woman with the issue of blood). Sometimes sickness is the result of sin i.e. unintentional sin: an unhealthy diet, addiction to cigarettes, etc. But of course it's not always sin, it's not always the sick person's fault for failing to receive healing. A big part of it, is God's timing.

Its hard to pray for someone if God hasnt chosen them to be healed

John G Lake and many others would of course totally disagree with most of this.

Was Adam ever ill before the fall? Sickness came due to sin
