Quickly sharing the basics of the mini hoop house design I'm using. Thanks to @jamesprigioni for initial inspiration🔥Material I used for a mini-hoop house to go over a 4ftx10ft (1.2x3m)

3 - 10ft lengths of 2x3 Timber
2 - 10ft lengths of roofing batten 25mmx50mm
2 - 4ft lengths of 2x3 Timber
2 - 2ft lengths of 2x3 Timber
8 - 3m lengths of alcathene pipe 22mm thick
2-3 - Door Hinges
UV Plastic sheeting 16ft x 6ft to allow for plenty of overhang (polytunnel plastic)
80mm nails/screws
40mm nails/screws
Any tape (electrical tape works well)
Thin Wood strips 2.4m 28ft in total (any lengths)
Nails longer than the wood strips
Piece of wood for ventilation

Note - use stainless steel screws and hinge to allow you to easily take the hoop house off one bed and install on another bed 🌿

I love these ideas.. I need to get more confident with power tools I’m so useless when I comes to carpentry. But with more projects I’m hoping I’ll become better

we made two of these but we put agricultural bug screen on the hoops first...its fastened on well, then if it gets super hot...we just throw the shade cloth over them and if it rains too hard...we just throw the poly over each and fasten these on with a few clips.

huw, what type of plastic did you use to cover it?

That is a really cool idea you could also drill holes inside of the hula hoop cut a piece off and attach it to a water hose and you would have a DIY sprinkler

EDIT UPDATE: I truly don't remember ever watching this video. Nevertheless leave a comment. 😊
Good idea tho past self 😂.

He clearly got someone else to build that for him. Problem with them is ventilation. Everyday you have to go put it up and down and check it’s not too hot etc

This could also be made with fine mesh instead of plastic as protection for example brassicas. Just what I was looking for 😊

Beautiful videos! For this build, did you cut down the 3m lengths of pipe to 6 feet to match the 6 ft wide plastic?

Is it going to stay warm at -20 C? Or should I install some lights + heat mechanics?

This is rad, could you show us the building process in a video, particularly that crimping part, wondering how to keep the plastic taught before securing. 🪴🥔🍅🥕🍓
