Reaching out makes me feel worse - like isolation is the best thing. People don't know what to say. They don't have the answers. They often make it worse.

Depression feels like an emotional prison where you see no escape.

I've tried reaching out only to be told, "Think positively and pray on it."
I'm done reaching out.

I've accepted that I'll never enjoy socializing with people, but I do it for the brain health. The same way I go for a walk for exercise. Expecting it to be pleasant just adds to the disappointment and hopelessness, adding insult to injury

Many ppl don’t understand depression so reaching out isn’t the first go to because ppl often make you feel worse

I don’t have family any longer. I reached out to people at a critical time and all they did was tell me the existence of therapists and hospitals. Plus “Duhhh I don’t know what to tell ya” and “I’ll pray for you.”

It's true that no one cares or understands. Isolation is far better than going to people who make you feel worse.

Seeing a therapist only convinced me my mental illness was real, bigger and meaner than I thought when I self isolated.

It's not about reaching out, but WHO you reach out TO. Friends and family won't always provide the understanding and/or empathy required.
In fact it's often the opposite.
I find journaling and doing EFT helpful. Diet, exercise and sleeping well also helps. Sometimes I call a helpline if the feelings in that moment are quite raw.

Depression is bad. But isolation doesn't mean you're depressed. Taking a break from everything and everybody can be the healthiest thing you can do sometimes. As a matter of fact, isolation can keep you from becoming depressed.

When you reach out, you're greeted by lots of people who all say that someone will help.

So true. I hope everyone that's battling this beast finds healing and connection 🙏 it's not the end; there's so much more to your story! What she's saying is valid. We can help each other. And God will help us ❤ in Jesus's name

Combine intense boredom, fatigue, rumination and low incom.

Feels like being stuck in a dark deep silent hole.

Convinced I have Autism, ADHD, and mos def CPSTD (all self-diagnosed). Dynamics with family and alleged "friends" has been extremely abusive and toxic throughout my existence. I've cut off mostly everyone, and have severely isolated myself for about five years now. I feel my mind going

But thats just it. In some cases reaching out is considered a sign of weakness. I mean, just the other day i told my family members that i might be depressed and they just scoffed at me saying that I have no reason to be depressed.

Most doctors push medication over eliminating the root cause. Sometimes we need to isolate from others whom drain us.

This is such a struggle for me. I’ve struggled with depression since elementary school. You’d think by 35 I’d have it contained.

Some people say they will be there for you, but when you reach out you find out it was just the nice thing for them to say. They didn’t really mean it and will actually vent about you to others which makes you feel more isolated and alone, and even more of a pariah.

The terrible part is that extremely few people care and many times it is a unique case take for example a mother might care for her depressed child and sometimes a therapist might care someone for a depressed client but for the most part even a therapist will not care because they are getting paid for what they do do remember most people do not care nobody really cares extremely few people care
