InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he reflects on the work of the pioneering consciousness explorer, John C. Lilly, who maintained that within the realm of the human mind, there are no limitations other than those we impose on ourselves and which can be transcended. He offers several examples of how we each might envision our "dream body". And, he relates the use of imagination to success in parapsychological experiments.

The Rudolf Steiner quote is becoming a mantra for me. So few words with such powerful meaning.

"...preventing yourself from falling into the trap of self-delusion." And the added importance of ethics. And then I heard in my mind the song 'Sweet Dreams' by the Eurythmics.

“Now” is kind of a unusual time for me. My dog is ill for the first time in her almost 13 years. She’ll be 13 on the 4th of July. She’s a RED Merle, WHITE and BLUE (one eye is blue) Australian Shepherd. She’s my first dog and having her is a huge highlight of my life. I’ll be 74 before she turns 13. So, something’s going to give with one of us in the not too distant future even if she recovers, which I expect!

I’m still not sure exactly why I got the dog. My friend at work said I should take one of her pups because her dog, the father, was the smartest dog she’d ever seen. All of her friends, said they would take Shorty in a heartbeat.
You should have seen how unbelievably fluffy the available male pup was! But, something in me said a “female dog.” I LISTENED to both myself and my friend. I made an agreement with her that if there was another litter with a RED MERLE, female, it was mine. That happened in about a year. Only one Red Merle was in that litter. Female. It was mine despite the fact that her unusual markings had everyone wanting that particular pup.
My shorthand way of telling people how much she meant to me: Imagine you are 8 years old and you win the prize of getting to live in the Disneyland tree house, it was all yours. My imagination worked superbly. If I hadn’t listened to myself, that resonance with my friend’s testament to the intelligence of the sire and that feeling that what my friend said couldn’t be truer, I would have missed an incredible part of my life. I have this dog, she says, smiling with the knowledge that no one can know US like we do! I knew this dog was right for me the moment I heard my friend’s voice. So glad I listened. Our relationship couldn’t fit better if it were a fancy Chinese Coat and Hat!

I have many stories of her smarts!

I shared this story because I’m that person who says to Targ, (wasn’t it Targ?) I just see black. Really, that’s me! I see black when I close my eyes! How silly!

I'm wondering if this is getting to an explanation to a description of how we create our own reality. We'll see. Anyway, I really look forward to these presentations. I've never met Jeffrey but he's beginning to feel like an old buddy.

Doc...
I've been envisioning myself writing a formal/personal introductory letter since I became aware of "New" Thinking Allowed.
Oddly enough about 3 or 4 years ago I stumbled on your station and was set beside myself... the intro & bridge theme instantly took me to the early 80's watching KLVX 10 with my Grandfather some Saturday afternoon. I was maybe 8 years of age, if that. What's more interesting is that It was only time I could recall it being aired but I do remember audio cassetes from time to time on a leisurely car ride.
I wish I could recall the subject matter but I was a child, lol! I was buisy imagining the fantastic creatures that lived there once and that there's no way Darth Vader was Luke's Father.
The last 3 of your In Presence episodes has, finally let the 2 old timers that had been working the bellows retire and in their place a couple eager Smith's from the land of "Mu"
Oops! I believe it was Steven Levine... I actually saved a few shoeboxes full of audio tapes destined for the trash. In any case, you are welcome! I cannot describe the profound gratitude I feel for sharing your lifes experience to whoever studies the hyper normal so It can, well, be re-experienced. Thus far being present with one such as yourself has reignited a fire in me that had lost its wonder to actualize its potential kp. Thank "You" for being with me as well.

I TOLD YOU TO SAY..."Flying very receptive Baba said...."common sense first...spiritual sense said...(i think)..."Imagination is more important than knowledge"...or maybe it was ..."Personality is more important than knowledge"....i think it was the first ....me?...i just want creativity and tranquility...i rarely get them both at the same time...but some times i get them both 4 your show...maybe you know danny castro in santa fe....he and i dont really have a history of getting along well....but i know he secretly admires me ...remember the Trivium...and that wisdom is "action"...and knowledge can be true or false...just like information not really so hard to find the truth...you just follow your heart

I saw a woman’s heart-shaped face and a gold coin-like medallion in quick succession. Very brief.

I’m still a little astounded at how I just accepted all these years that I saw just black when I closed my eyes.

Can you imagine that all there is already is nothing but your imagination? That there is nothing behind and beyond it (not even the nothing). Even you, as a consciousness, is merely a product of imagination. Therefore your imagination is not really yours, neither is really imaginary. What remains when this notions are dismantled? Unfathomable this, what there is? Or maybe not even that? -- Can you imagine this?

True and false imagination? Communication vs talking through your hat. When you're connected, you know it. If you don't know it, I don't think you are connected. That kind of knowing is, i believe, a feeling. When you feel something that you didn't make up, where did it come from? I believe that if we could feel what it is like to be one universe (or even one planet, or even one humanity, (or even one *member* of humanity)), our character development would take care of itself, (but we would also know where knowledge and power belong and how to use them.) We don't want to be Mickey Mouse running around trying to stop mops from multiplying (but that's obvious, isn't it?)
