🌹 The DARK SECRET Behind Vito Corleone's Wealth | How Vito Corleone Built a BILLION Dollar Empire? | The Rise of Vito Corleone Michael Corleone himself, the dons very own son, was absolutely SHOCKED to find out the family’s true wealth 💰
Don Vito Corleone was known to “Make Offers they Couldn't Refuse”...
But Have you ever wondered how rich the Godfather really was?
It might seem a simple question, but what we found out might change the way you view The Godfather forever...

By 1945, Vito had a vast real estate portfolio in New York’s Midtown, as well as massive real estate holdings, a construction company, entire office buildings, two Wall Street brokerage houses, a law firm, Hollywood unions, as well investments and ownership stakes in banks in Long Island. A Lot of these were set up through various fronts.

But his influence stretched across the country, buying out Hollywood movie studios, movie theatre chains, and music companies. Let alone a hotel and resort in Florida, in addition to investing in some Las Vegas Casinos. At his height, perhaps the golden era of the mob, Don Corleone generated around $650 million across his various businesses during prohibition. Now this, you won't believe.
If we convert that figure into today's money, it would be worth a staggering, $15 billion in total revenue. Then let's say after all the expenses the don only keeps 30% profit, that comes down to $4.5 billion, it’s still an unbelievable amount. If we put a average 3x multiple, and lets just take the earnings we mentioned earlier, The Corleone empire would be worth around $14 Billion today. But let's say after prohibition, the empire was only generating $7 billion, with $2.1 billion in profit, would make it worth around $6.3 billion today, still an incredible amount. For context here is a list of today's companies that are worth a similar amount. But now, let's go a bit deeper and see how much the don himself is worth. Where would he rank on the Forbes list?

As you know, Vito had a VERY rough life and so began working from quite early on.
Having gone through so much at a young age, Vito had anything but a normal childhood.
His first job was with the Abandando family, the family that had taken him in after he escaped from Sicily. And I'm sure you remember how he ended up meeting Peter Clemenza, where he soon made a total shift from honest store clerk to low level criminal.
Well, at that point, they began to specialize in hijacking different trucks that carried all kinds of goods. But everything changed once Vito “dealt” with Don Fanucci. After Vito deposed the former neighbourhood don, “the black hand”, he had built quite a reputation for himself. Vito earned the respect of the neighborhood, becoming known as a "Man of Respect" and was soon asked to intercede in local disputes, gaining a reputation for never turning down someone who came to him for help, and for being able to "reason" with "unreasonable" people. Although he had declined to do so at first out of modesty, Vito eventually started accepting "gifts" from local businesses and racket bosses in return for "ensuring that our patrons know that they are safe", It started with just a few hundred dollars a week, but soon Vito was making an enormous amount of money, just from accepting these so-called “gifts”.

Vito, Clemenza and Tessio eventually took over the neighborhood, treating it with a great deal more respect than Fanucci did, and in turn they were taken care of in case they needed anything.

They need to make a TV show on the rise of vito corleone during the prohibition era. There's so many stories can be created in his rise. And also can dive deeper in how vito was when he was younger and thought process during any hardships.

One of the smartest things vito did was to support/sponsor smart and up and coming children in his neighborhood. Those kids grew up and became powerful men themselves, so Vito gained more indirect power through these men as well.

I knew the Corleone family was worth many billions with a "b" once in The Godfather Part II, that Hyman Roth told Michael Corleone at the onset of their partnership in Cuba, "We're bigger than U.S. Steel."

"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse"
The most iconic line in The Godfather and in cinema history for that matter and you talked over it.

I’ve been watching The Godfather since I was about 9. I am now 48 and still learn new things every time I watch the film. I’ve probably seen it 30+ times and just love it. Greatest movie of all time.

The is the best editing I’ve ever seen in a YouTube video. Movie clips are brilliantly placed and perfectly timed. Bravo!

Owning 2 brokerages and a law firm is very impressive. I think when Vito was talking to Michael about being a senator or governor Vito wanted Michael to help him see what he could've been if he didn't choose crime. But I always wondered exactly what kind of firm did Vito get for Michael?

_"Let's see how <Vito> compares to a different group..."_ Agree with you 100%. No one becomes that rich without having the same traits as a mafia boss.

I think a key difference between a 'legitimate' business billionaire and a crime lord is the legit business person has the means to block unfavorable laws and help create favorable laws. The crime lord can only break the law. That's why regular business people can appear to be less criminal than they are. For example, Vito could get a political ally to sign off on paperwork so certain people could stay in the US but Vito could never get politicians to change the laws regulating immigration. The next time you read about massive tax breaks for the corporate world, keep that in mind. You can't be accused of skimming off the top if you can get the laws changed so you are GIVEN that money, by law, off the top.

Godfather should NEVER be remade.... as a movie.
But as a big budget multi-season HBO drama? I'd eat it up.

I love how clemenza breaks into that one house to get the rug and invites vito in like "A'mon'in" as in "Come on in" lmao
