The "Sicily" part of _The Godfather_ was so well done. I can't explain why but it really gives me a great feeling in my heart.
Something about that ancient island and the history and beautiful scenery and people. It makes an already wonderful book/film into something flawless.

Although it's not shown in the production release it's in the deleted scenes at least he gets revenge on Fabrizzio. Certainly of all the deaths in The Godfather franchise Michael's revenge on him is the most justified.

Michael was a decorated WW 2 Marine Corps veteran, I believe the horror of war changes men forever . Thus for Michael and many other combat veterans, the killing of a human being was made easy.

Don’t forget, the hit that killed Appalonia was intended for him. She was supposed to be ‘collateral damage’. The fact that she wanted to prove him, she could drive, got her killed. She wasn’t supposed to be at the wheel in the first place. He would take his revenge on all of them after Vito died.

The reason why I can believe that a guy like Michael could become the Don is Apollonia’s death. Such a beautiful and pure girl’s death meant the death of Michael and the rise of the Godfather. The death of Mary meant the death of the Don.

It wasn’t in Italy, but in Sicily. Apollonia is a Greek name, which was fitting given the colonization of that Island by the ancient Greeks. Sicily has a culture and history all its own, and it’s the homeland of Vito Corleone (Andolini).
