Russia Earthquake Today | Magnitude 6.0 quake hits near Shikotan, Sakhalin Oblast | August 7, 2022

Russia was shaken near Shikotan, Sakhalin Oblast, by an earthquake of magnitude 6.0, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.

The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Shikotan, Sakhalin Oblast, Russia, late at night on Sunday, August 7th, 2022, at 11:40 pm local time.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.8 earthquake.
In Shikotan (pop. 2,100) located 112 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
