He didn't want the world Anakin was born on because he hated it. He didn't want the world his wife was born on because he missed her. He wanted the world where HE was born.

It’s so sad, because Anakin did truly look up to Palpatine as a father. Palpatine knew that family was his weakness, and so he carefully built up that relationship in order to ensure his loyalty. And once he felt the Jedi had betrayed him and Padme had died, Palpatine was the only family Anakin had left. In his very twisted mind, even a mass murdering psychopathic Sith demigod was better to have as a father than not having one at all. Fittingly he conquered that fear of abandonment by being a father himself.

Dude got the chance to legally own a planet, and chose the hot mess that made him the hot mess that he was.

Vader didn't want to be at the planets that rose Anakin Skywalker but the planet where Darth Vader was ultimately created.

Not only was Vader’s main goal to use the force nexus on Mustafar in an attempt to revive Padme-But, he would’ve never subjected his HomeWorld (or her’s) to straight up tyranny (by his hand). This is why I also believe he chose to reject Naboo/Tattooine.

Sure, the empire held control of the planet empirically, and obviously he oversaw it as the emperor’s right hand-But I don’t believe he would have actively chosen to DIRECTLY oversee it, as per his time as a slave on the planet/ what his deceased wife stood for - on hers

1. There was nothing to gain.

2. EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!

crazy to think had he chose tattooine, the whole timeline would’ve shifted TREMENDOUSLY

Vader chose mustafar because sith force energy was strong there, he wanted to gain the knowledge to bring back padme. He also wanted the world that put him in that suit as a lesson to be learnt that Vader should never lose again.

I imagine palpy giving those two options was a test of some sort which was to be gauged by vaders response. Safe to say asking for Mustafar gave a passing grade

Yesterday I saw the clone wars episode where Anakin, obi wan, and another jedi master (Adi gallia) rescued Eeth Koth, and to find out that Vader killed him in the end....

To think, if he hadn't refused he very well may have found Leia and being that close to her, may have sensed her connection to the force or himself and the rest of the story may have turned out VERY differently.

It makes sense. Anakin’s home was Tatooine, but Vader’s home was Mustafar.
